Silver Birch Hotels and Resorts are looking for a Communications and Change Management Specialist at our Corporate Office in Vancouver, BC.
 The goal of the Communications and Change Management Specialist will be to assist with the adoption of new processes and system applications resulting from the implementation of a new ERP system.  The specialist will plan and execute communications and change management initiatives that inform, build trust, generate support for project goals and outcomes, and ensure positive use of the new ERP system software. Focus is given to People, Process and Systems: the specialist works to help maximize employee engagement in new processes and systems and minimize employee resistance.


Duties & Responsibilities:
  • In consultation with SilverBirch management and project leaders, develop and execute the ERP project communications plan and strategy.
  • Conduct change readiness assessments, evaluate results, present findings, get consensus on direction and execute the plan.
  • Internally execute Change Management plans.
  • Identify potential organizational impacts and adoption risks, and work with project team to integrate communications and change management activities into the overall project plan.
  • Support the project teams, IT, HR, training, operations, marketing and other teams by researching, writing, editing and/or facilitating the dissemination of internal communications materials that are used to support the ERP project deliverables.
  • Coach the project team and company leaders on communicating with various stakeholders, assisting them to draft communications, and facilitating knowledge-transfer sessions as needed.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Associates with questions or concerns about ERP. Liaise with subject matter experts to provide timely responses.
  • Lead the adoption of the Intranet (Concierge). Facilitate the knowledge transfer of new features to the user community.
  • Travel for business (15%) required. Travel will be associated with go live activities at hotels and properties across Canada.
Preferred Education & Qualifications:
  • A university degree in business, communications, human resources, organizational psychology or a related discipline and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 5+ years’ experience with corporate communication; 2-3 years’ change management experience.
  • Demonstrated success in a corporate communications role with an emphasis on organizational change. Work experience in hospitality would be an asset.
  • A solid understanding of the change process and change management principles.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, including the ability to write for a variety of audiences and communications media.
  • Familiarity with project management approaches, tools and phases of the project lifecycle.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively at all levels of an organization.
  • Strong analytic, problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • The ability to multi-task and work towards sometimes tight deadlines in a dynamic project-oriented environment.
  • Experience with social media tools and techniques to manage internal communication and collaboration.
  • Experience with Microsoft SharePoint, intranet content management, and Google Analytics.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite, and a general aptitude for technology.
  • Experience with ERP or other major strategic technology implementations would be an asset.
