Boundary Bay Airport (CZBB)
The Boundary Bay Airport in Delta, B.C. is an
integral and important part of Vancouver Lower Mainland’s airport
infrastructure. Situated just
thirty-five minutes from downtown Vancouver, with a newly extended runway and
new terminal building, it is poised for growth in general aviation, business
aircraft and commercial operations. Alpha Aviation Inc. operates both the airport and a
Fixed Base Operation (FBO) and seeks a manager to lead our airport
operations.
Airport Manager
After many successful years of service in
various roles within the company, our current Airport Manager is relocating to
the East with her family. We are
searching for the ideal candidate to transition into the Airport Manager role
at CZBB.
Reporting to the General Manager, the Airport
Manager’s primary function is to manage all operational aspects of the airport
and to deliver airport facilities that ensure exceptional service that safely,
efficiently and cost effectively meets the needs of airport users.
The Airport Manager is the
accountable leader in all areas of the airport including maintaining airport
certification, ensuring regulatory compliance in safety, security, and
environmental areas, and the growth of the airport’s FBO.
Responsibilities
Include:

Acts as the primary
liaison between Alpha Aviation and the Airport’s tenants to ensure exceptional
customer service.
·
Responsible for
promoting and communicating new policies and programs that will affect airport
users, tenants and the airport’s surrounding neighbors.
·
Effectively manages
human resources communicating priorities, motivating staff and creating an
environment that promotes teamwork.
·
In conjunction with
the Corporation of Delta, produces the Boundary Bay Airport’s annual airshow.
·
Ensures the smooth
operation of the airport on a 24/7 basis, which includes the preparedness for
any emergency, unexpected situations, or times when the airport is not able to
maintain advertised levels of service.
·
Promotes, administers
and develops Alpha Aviation’s Safety Management System.
·
Ensures that all
airport licensing requirements including Transport Canada, Nav Canada,
Environment Canada, and other regulatory requirements affecting airport and
fueling operations are met.
·
Develops and manages
the annual and long-range business plan, including operating and capital
budgets.
·
Reports on
operational and specific initiatives to the accountable Executive, General
Manager and Board on a regular basis.
·
Works with stakeholders
to ensure that capital projects are managed effectively meeting Transport
Canada regulations, standards and recommendations, and minimizes the impact to
airport users.
·
Liaises with
community and government officials to secure innovative funding programs to
support required development and growth of the airport terminal facilities,
properties, and services.
·
Explores new ways to
promote and grow the Fixed Based Operator (FBO), while overseeing and guiding
its daily operation.
·
Negotiates rates,
approved activities and contracts with film production companies for their use
of airport facilities.
Staff Reports:
Approximately twenty reports (customer
service, fuellers, maintenance, operations, etc.)
Training and Experience:
· A
Business Administration Degree with an emphasis in aviation management, and/or
ten years’ experience or the equivalent in airport administration and/or
aviation management.
·
A
commercial pilot’s license.
· Comprehensive
knowledge of all aspects of aviation, airport and aircraft procedures and
practices, airport security and emergency planning.
· Comprehensive
knowledge, interpretation and application of licensing and regulatory
requirements including Transport Canada, Nav Canada, Environment Canada, and
other overseeing body’s regulatory requirements affecting airport and fueling
operations.
· Experience
with the development and promotion of airport facilities and the Federal,
Provincial, and local funding programs relating to airport development.
· Proven
abilities in project management, organization and negotiating, as well as
conflict management.
·
Excellent
problem solving and decision making skills.
·
Must
be able to lead and maintain ones composure during emergency situations.
· Strong
communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal. The ability to be able to speak confidently
in a public setting is essential.
·
Ability
to earn and build trust with owners, tenants and all airport stakeholders.
·
Self-motivated,
dedicated and able to work with minimal supervision.
The successful candidate will have the following core competencies:

positively relate and communicate with a variety of different stakeholders.
