Pacific Coastal Airlines has an exciting opportunity for the position of Occupational Health and Safety Officer.  In this role you will provide subject matter expertise, guidance and training on all matters pertaining to Occupational Health and Safety legislation.  The successful candidate will assist in investigating incidents/accidents, conduct hazard identification, risk management and analysis of these programs as well as make recommendations to preclude re-occurrences.

This role requires a person that has the ability to work in a changing environment who will develop and maintain rapport with staff to encourage ongoing safety related feedback.
Reporting to the Director of Aviation and Corporate Safety, the Occupational Health and Safety Officer is responsible for providing guidance to management and employees on all safety related matters. Furthermore, this position is responsible for actively promoting the company’s Safety Management System (SMS) and internal audit program through relationships with other department Safety and Quality Assurance Managers.  This position will be responsible for the coordination and management of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods program, Worksafe claims management, WHMIS program, internal and external department safety audits and chairing Pacific Coastal Airlines Health and Safety meetings.  Some travel will be required.


Qualifications
This successful candidate must have strong knowledge of the Canada Labour Code, Canadian Occupational Health (OSH) and Safety Regulations and Aviation Occupational Health and Safety regulations (AOSH) in order to maintain regulatory compliance.  He/she must be self-motivated with a strong work ethic. 
A minimum of 3 years’ experience coupled with a Certificate or Diploma of Technology in Occupational Health and Safety is required.  He/she must have knowledge of Safety Management Systems (SMS / QA) as outlined in the Canadian Aviation Regulations.  The job requires the individual to be proficient in a multitude of computer skills such as Microsoft Office products and internet applications.
