YVRPM has an opening for a permanent, full-time Manager, Airport Terminal Projects.
Key responsibilities include:
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing, planning, developing and implementing airport terminal and related capital projects including:
- Developing detailed requirements, conceptual designs, cost estimates, schedules and recommendations based on sound business principles in order to prepare Project Definition Reports (PDR) and Project Appropriation Requests (PAR) for senior management and board approvals of airport terminal and related capital projects
- Managing the implementation of projects including:
- Conceptual design and planning
- Selecting consultants and managing their work
- Developing time, cost and quality control plans
- Reviewing technical design
- Ensuring Airport Safety and Security are fully incorporated
- Ensuring competitive tendering
- Preparing tender documents and pricing schedules
- Maintaining projects on budget, on schedule and within PDR scope
- Monitoring progress of construction
- Taking proactive corrective action when established time, cost and quality do not meet YVRPM requirements
- Reviewing and approving all progress payment claims
- Reviewing change orders
- Accepting completed work
- Facilitating commissioning and turnover of completed work to owners’ expectations and owners’ Maintenance & Operations
- Managing support staff assigned to projects which includes: monitoring work and performance; recommending training; and determining future staffing requirements for the airport terminal and related capital projects
- Maintaining currency in project management and construction practices, aviation industry developments, and airport terminal and related requirements
- Undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university
- Registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of British Columbia
- At least 10 years’ experience managing projects, with demonstrated experience managing at least one major project of $30 million in value or greater
- Proven experience managing a project team with staff, stakeholders, consultants and contractors
- Proficiency in the English language with respect to report writing and giving oral presentations
