Summit Air is seeking an experienced Finance Manager - Aviation to support its rotary and fixed wing flight operations based out of Yellowknife, NT. Reporting to the Vice President - Finance, the Finance Manager plays an integral role in the successful operations of the Summit Air finance and accounting team. This is a dynamic, hands-on role that encompasses oversight of full-cycle accounting functions, including treasury, payroll, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.


Responsibilities

    • Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures to meet the needs of the growing aviation division 
    • Provide leadership, guidance and training to Summit Air’s local project accounting team 
    • Recommend process improvements to assist the company in meeting short- and long-term strategic goals
    • Provide key support in the evaluation and integration of potential mergers & acquisitions
    • Leverage technical expertise in ongoing systems implementation and integration projects
    • Manage compliance reporting to meet regulatory requirements
    • Act as primary liaison with external vendors, client representatives, and internal project teams
    • Ensure accuracy, completeness and timeliness in the processing of all accounting documents

Requirements

    • 3-5 years of accounting experience with increasing levels of responsibility 
    • Post-secondary education in finance or accounting; professional accounting designation an asset
    • Demonstrated success in leading and managing teams in a fast-paced environment
    • Prior experience with post-acquisitions financial integration would be considered an asset
    • Experience in the aviation or transportation industry is preferred, but not required
    • High level of proficiency with computerized accounting systems; familiarity with JD Edwards or other ERP system preferred
    • Solutions-oriented, with a proven ability to manage successfully in an complex, ever-changing environment

    • Occasional travel may be required
