POSITION: Librarian, Flight Operations
LOCATION: Toronto, ON
REPORTING TO: Senior Librarian
DEPARTMENT: Maintenance & Engineering, Quality Assurance

The Librarian is responsible for the activities within the Flight Operations Library (on-board, main base, sub-base & deployed base) to ensure publications, information bulletins and other provisioning are accessible and are maintained in the most current revision status for the use of operational crews and other users.




RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Manage the day-to-day operation of the Flight Operations Library.
• Administer the process of preparing revisions and reprints of manuals (FOM, FAM, IOM, etc) and other documentation to designated manual holders, crew members, base libraries, and Operations Control Centre
• Track and control the distribution status of manuals and documents, issued to approved holders and locations, to ensure timely incorporation of amendments.
• Manage data posted on Sunwing Ops website to ensure the information is current and accurate.
• Plan and order supplies, material and printing of documents based on the aircraft import program, crew training needs and seasonal flying schedule.
• Monitor vendor websites including Boeing, Jeppesen, AeroData and Transport Canada to provide most up-to-date documents to library users.
• Monitor schedule amendments and initiate action to reallocate resources for timely incorporation of changes and updates to on-board libraries.
• Coordinate with Chief pilot or designate on matters pertaining to effetivity and applicability of information available within the Flight Operations libraries.
• Coordinate with Training Pilot on matters pertaining to simulator libraries and documentation to be provided to pilots' on Intial & recurrent training.
• Administer the process of setting-up libraries, effecting manual updates, arranging for delivery of operational data to support export/ imports and seasonal deployments.
• Manage the scheduling of Assisstant Librarians for various aircraft duties based on flight schedules and maintenance forecasts.
• Assist the Library Supervisor in training new hires, scheduling meetings, performance reviews.


REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:
• Attention to detail, with ability to manage time between multi disciplinary projects
• Ability to work with computers and electronic databases.
• Ability to analyse data and draw conclusions with respect to effectivity and applicability of technical documentation.
• Ability to be accountable for the assigned responsibilities.
• Ability to be independent and objective in performing the assigned tasks.
• Ability to build trust and confidence in others to gain safety and regulatory compliance.
• Ability to train and coach others with regards to company policy, technical subject matter and regulatory requirements.
• A college Diploma related to aviation or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3 years experience in a library in an airline or AMO environment (preferably).
• Previous leadership / administrative experience in a similar role.
• Knowledge of Canadian Aviation Regulatory (CAR) requirements with respect to the provisioning of reference material and technical data.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• A valid Ontario G Driver's License or equivalent required.
• Ability to work split / irregular hour shift to update on-board libraries depending on varying flight schedule.
• Ability to travel to Canadian and overseas bases on short notice to review/audit libraries.
• Ability to concentrate and retain attention for long hours while updating Jeppesen data.
• Eligibility to obtain GTAA Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC) and Airside Vehicle Operator's Permit (AVOP)
