The Vancouver Airport Authority has a full-time term opportunity (to backfill a one-year leave beginning in November 2013) for a Technical Specialist, Permits in the Engineering Services Department.
Key responsibilities include:
- Processing permit applications by ensuring permit submissions are complete and meet requirements; this includes:
- Submitting permits to the appropriate reviewing bodies
- Coordinating the review process
- Efficiently documenting the process
- Working with consultants to ensure that designs and construction meet building code requirements
Key qualifications include:
- Completion of an Applied Science or Technologist Program in a relevant discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to read and understand architectural and engineering design drawings and reports
- Familiarity with construction materials and installation methods
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office applications
- Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills in order to ensure that professional engineers, architects, project managers and contractors comply with all Airport Authority regulations and construction practices
- Team player who can work with both internal and external customers by applying knowledge of the permit process to evaluate submissions and ensure compliance with requirements
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
- Knowledge of CAD and database software, as well as, air navigation regulations would be assets
