We specialise in providing services to the aviation industry including products, processes, research, and expert advice on reducing the occurrence and impact of bird and other wildlife strike.  As leaders in our field we have consulted to over 60 airports worldwide, and employ a professional team dedicated to best practice environmental management (www.avisure.com). We are expanding our operations to Vancouver International Airport and are looking to establish a team of Wildlife Management Technicians, who possess an excellent knowledge of birdlife and can assist with wildlife hazard mitigation. Both full and part time positions are available working an 8 hour rotating roster inclusive of night shifts.
Key elements of this position will include:
  • understanding bird identification and behaviour
  • airside wildlife harrassment and dispersal
  • data collection & maintenance of electronic records

Selection Criteria
Essential skills and attributes

  • demonstrated skill in wildlife identification, particularly local birdlife
  • demonstrated ability to use problem solving techniques to safely and effectively harass and disperse wildlife from the aerodrome and adjacent habitat
  • siuational awareness particularly in relation to identifying safety considerations involving aircraft movement, wildlife presence, and the activity of other vehicles, equipment and people utilizing the airport
  • demonstrated experience in the handling, operation and maintenance of firearms
  • current class 5 drivers license and ability to follow safe vehicle operation and traffic procedures for aerodromes
  • computer literacy and ability to maintain electronic records
  • a strong commitment to safety and safe work practices and a willingness to promote Avisure’s safety culture
  • genuine interest in birds, wildlife and animal behavior and experience in outdoor/field work
Desireable skills and attributes
  • higher education qualification in wildlife biology/ecology/conservation or equivalent experience
  • unrestricted Possesssion & Aquistion Licence (PAL)
  • Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC) – requires criminal record check
  • Aircraft Radio/Telephone Operators Proficiency
  • Airside Vehicle Operator's Permit (D-AVOP)
  • standard First Aid certificate
  • experience/qualifications in animal behavior, and/or dog training
  • experience/license in use and maintenance of small watercraft
