Position Title: Director, Cabin Safety & Onboard Product

The Flight Attendant Director is responsible for the professional standards of the cabin crews under his/her authority and in particular:



• Liaison with Transport Canada as the official TC Designate
• Demonstrate knowledge of employee responsibilities regarding safety and actively participate in the company’s Safety Management Systems program
• Assuring a current and approved Flight Attendant Manual is in place
• Assuring current and approved flight attendant training program
• The issuance of directives and notices to the flight attendants as required
• The actioning and distribution of accident, incident, and other occurrence reports
• The processing and actioning of any cabin crew reports
• The management and supervision of all subordinates listed within the current and approved Cabin Safety Organizational chart 
• Assuming any responsibilities delegated by the Operations Manager
• Training of flight attendants in accordance with the approved training program
• The maintenance of flight attendant training records
• Liaison with other company departments 
• The development of safety features cards
• In his or her absence, all responsibilities for duties shall be delegated to another qualified individual, except that the knowledge requirements detailed under flight attendant manager qualifications may be demonstrated to the air operator rather than the Minister 
• Oversee the overall Flight Attendant recruitment process
• Maintain the Flight Attendant seniority list
• Assist with Familiarization flights and Line Indoctrinations of new Flight Attendants
• Develop and maintain the Inflight Services Standards including training programs and manuals
• Work closely with Coordinators of Onboard Product to ensure the Inflight Service guidelines and Aurora Class Product considerations are included in all processes
• Conduct regular Inflight Inspections to ensure adherence to uniform policy; service procedures; compliance with Transport Canada and other regulations, policies and procedures as set out in the Flight Attendant manual and training programs
• Ensure annual line checks performed on each Flight Attendant to ensure performance and service expectations are met
• Conduct annual performance meetings with all Flight Attendants or more often as required
• Promote superior employee relations by encouraging open communication and cooperation; issuance of memorandums as required, keeping Flight Attendants informed on a timely basis
• Receive, process and respond to Flight Reports relative to operational issues in a timely manner
• Support and ensure the use of attendance management and positive discipline programs
• Actively participate and be a proponent of all Company human resources practices, including Beneficiary Employment, Career Development programs and Career Fairs
• Ensure employee recognition program is fully supported and utilized
• Respond to customer comments in a timely and appropriate manner
• Sourcing, purchasing and ordering processes for Flight Attendant uniforms
• Responsible for investigation of all Inflight OTP irregularities & coding
• Management of the CUPE collective agreement, including addressing employee grievances at the first level
• Promote good customer and supplier relations and positive public relations within the business and airport communities
• Participate in the Health and Safety meetings and other management committees
• Assist with preparation of departmental budget; development of profitability improvement initiatives and contribute to overall corporate objectives
• Maintain complete confidentiality with respect to all information obtained directly or indirectly with regards to the business affairs of the Company
• Assist with preparation of departmental budget; development of profitability improvement initiatives and contribute to overall corporate objectives
• Other projects or duties as assigned


TC Required Qualifications:
• Know such of the contents of the air operator’s operations manual, air operator certificate and operations specifications as are necessary for the performance of the assigned duties
• Know such of the provisions of the Aeronautics Act, the Canadian Aviation Regulations and Standards, as are necessary for the performance of the assigned duties
• Demonstrate to the Minister that the person has the ability to fulfil the responsibilities of the position
• Successful completion of Transport Canada Regulatory Designate Exam and Process

Requirements: 

• Confident in administrative ability and IT literacy
• Must be successful in the Transport Canada Designate process including passing the exam and interview 
• Effective interpersonal skills in dealing with the public, flight crews and Company management
• A high level of initiative, strong organizational skills and adaptable to change
• Demonstrated ability to multitask and possesses good time management
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and stress 
• Strong ability to determine performance goals and ability to hold others accountable
• Ability to abide by the rules of confidentiality 
• Management, Inflight knowledge and/or training experience is required
