Technical Trainer - (13-ASBP-001)
Reporting to the Manager, Health Safety & Training this position
and is responsible for instruction on Airside Vehicle Operator Permits (AVOP),
which includes theoretical and practical instruction for both ‘D/A” and “D”
permits, as well as for the operation of motorized vehicles on both the
maneuvering and movement areas. The incumbent will train all employees in all
aspects of the Canada Labour Code part II. In addition, other training will
include but is not limited to: passenger boarding bridges and ancillary
equipment, fall arrest training, aerial work platform, fork lift training,
basic vehicle and equipment maintenance and lubrication. Documentation of all
program materials with follow up and instruction and evaluation will be a
critical component.
Accountabilities:
- Development and delivery of training packages in accordance with adult learning principals for new equipment and procedures
- Review, revise and or enhance present equipment training programs, conduct orientation training for new hires, conduct theoretical and practical instruction for equipment operators, complete detailed training records
- Schedule training sessions including booking rooms, preparing materials, etc
- Update LMS, and AMMS
- Act as an Ambassador for the GTAA and AVS promoting our brand
- Supporting the verification that health, safety and equipment training is implemented; as through workplace inspections and health and safety audits
- Provide coaching to all AVS employees regarding OHS including assisting in Job Safety Analysis
- Conduct follow up evaluations ,develop operator evaluation standards for equipment and procedures
- Monitor the progress of new operators on equipment, evaluate manufacturer supplied training for quality and consistency
- Organize training schedules in partnership with the area Supervisor
- Other duties as required
Job Requirements
Qualifications
- The successful candidate must have High School education
- Minimum 1 year of experience in Adult Learning Methodologies or similar
- Must be able to retain a D AVOP License
- Must have a fully satisfactory work performance in his/her current position and a work record that is void of discipline and unacceptable attendance that would have a bearing on the duties, roles and responsibilities of the posted position
- Must be able to retain a Transportation Security Clearance
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Significant knowledge of the Canada Labour Code part II
- The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate effective interpersonal skills, show initiative and sound judgment, be dependable and show a mature approach, and also have tact and resourcefulness in conflict and pressure situations
- The incumbent must demonstrate an excellent command of the English language both orally and in written form
- The incumbent must possess time‐management skills, the ability to prioritize, schedule and coordinate multi‐layered projects as well as attention to detail
