New Posting - Vancouver Airport Authority

The Vancouver Airport Authority has opportunities for permanent, full-time Technical Analysts in the Simplified Passenger Travel Department.  Reporting to the Manager, Simplified Passenger Travel, the Technical Analysts will be responsible for providing technical implementation and support services for current and future applications.
Simplified Passenger Travel seeks to measurably improve the passenger experience by process reengineering, implementing new technologies and the removal of exception handling from any primary process. The resultant reduction in wait times and queuing greatly assist the flow of passengers and baggage throughout the airport experience.
Key responsibilities include: 
  • Providing technical support for system infrastructure, operating systems, kiosk applications and kiosk components such as computers, document scanners and printers
  • Providing technical support for the implementation of new systems and services
  • Providing on-call support on a scheduled basis to ensure that any issues are resolved in the most expedited manner (may include after-hours support)
  • Providing system administration and management for a growing number of kiosk applications in multiple airport environments – this includes ensuring system integrity, tuning, security, recovery procedures, and developing preventative maintenance plans
  • Developing and promoting standards and procedures as needed
  • Creating and maintaining support documentation library
  • Performing QA testing of kiosk application and environment
  • Delivering end-user technical training
  • Testing and performing quality assurance steps with new application release candidates
Key qualifications include:
  • BSc in Computer Science or equivalent
  • 5 years of relevant work experience
  • Demonstrated experience administering and troubleshooting large scale enterprise systems in a mission critical and heterogeneous environment
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Excellent analytical and logical reasoning skills
  • Strong MS Windows Server, IIS, and SSL skills
  • Demonstrated competency in database technologies such as MS SQL
  • Strong desktop and remote administration management skills for Windows 7 desktops
  • Demonstrated experience with MS Active Directory, GPOs, SCCM and automation with scripting
  • Understanding of network protocols, routing, VLANs, sub-netting, firewalls, VPNs and load balancing
  • Strong computer hardware and peripheral troubleshooting skills and experience
  • Experience with Cloud-based technology
  • Understanding quality assurance concepts and steps an asset
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and especially, written
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Excellent customer service and documentation skills
  • Enrolment in, or completion of IT certifications such as MCSE, Unix admin and CCNA would be an asset
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the following clearances and identity documents:
    • Transport Canada RAIC
    • Government of Canada Secret Clearance
    • Canadian passport
Note that 5 to 10 days per month of international travel may be required.
