Operations Duty Manager General
Responsibilities - provide leadership, direction and support for all
day-of-operation activities within the Operations Control Center. Reports to Senior Manager, Operations Control
Specific Duties
- Route and maintain planned aircraft routings for a rolling five day
operational window
- Liaise with Maintenance Line Planning and/or the
Manager of Fleet Planning to ensure scheduled maintenance requirements are
aligned with planned aircraft routings
- Manage the day-of flight
operation to ensure Safe Performance On Time while considering all operational
factors including flight crew resources, weather, air traffic control, airport
restrictions, fleet planning, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, route
restrictions, and guest experience
- Liaise with all operational teams as
required to develop and implement IROP contingency and recovery plans to support
flight schedule integrity and completion
- Provide strategic direction to
all OCC teams pertaining to operational decisions
- Prepare and deliver
daily reports and operational status updates detailing operational highlights
and concerns
- Communicate significant IROP or operational concerns to
operational stakeholders including the executive & senior leadership teams
- Coordinate operational set-up & communication as it relates to
ad-hoc charter operations
- Escalate performance management concerns to
leadership teams as appropriate
- Support WestJet’s Emergency Response
process and act as the Incident Director until relieved by the Vice President –
Flight Operations or his designate
Qualifications
- Minimum 5
years flight dispatch experience in a Type A “Complex” environment required
- Minimum 2 years’ experience with Sabre software applications
- Operational experience in non-flight dispatch roles within an Operations
Control environment or related training from an accredited institution is an
asset
- Strong analytical, problem solving, decision making, organization
and communications skills required
- High degree of motivation and
commitment to work in a fast paced, dynamic, changing environment
- Previous leadership experience with strong facilitation and mentoring
skills is required
- Ability to proactively identify problems, issues,
opportunities and solution
- Ability to deal with stressful situations
using diplomacy
- Able to work under minimal supervision
