The Calgary Airport Authority is a not-for-profit non share capital corporation, responsible for the management, maintenance, operation and development of the Calgary International Airport and Springbank Airport under long-term leases from the Government of Canada

The Role
Reporting to Manager, Airfield Compliance, the overall responsibility of this safety-sensitive position is to maintain a safe airfield operating environment for aircraft, vehicles, and personnel. The position is responsible for the following primary duties:
  1. Daily implementation of the Airfield Site Self Inspection Program (SSIP).
  2. Daily execution of the Wildlife Management Program.
  3. Providing support to Emergency Responders in the role of On-Scene Controller in the event of an incident.
  4. Providing guidance to Authority staff and other agencies on matters of airfield safety through the knowledge and application of regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  5. Act as the airside construction coordinator, which includes: review of NOTAM’s, attend construction meetings, construction site inspections, and coordinate with the Airport Duty Manager’s.
  6. Conduct detailed regulatory compliance audits of Authority aviation assets as required under the Quality Assurance Program.

Basic Requirements
  1. Knowledge of airport operations and regulations and or wildlife management programs.
  2. Ability to obtain the following:
    1. Airside Vehicle Operators Permit (AVOP)
    2. Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC)
    3. Restricted Radio Operators Certificate
    4. Firearms Acquisition Certificate
  1. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and ability to adapt to different computer reporting systems.
  2. Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  3. Ability to work rotating shift schedule in a 24/7 operation.
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  5. Meet requirements of working in a safety-sensitive position.
Additional Requirements
  1. Knowledge of wildlife management theory and techniques is an asset.
  2. Post-secondary education in airport operations would be considered an asset.
