The Calgary Airport Authority is a
not-for-profit non share capital corporation, responsible for the management,
maintenance, operation and development of the Calgary International Airport and
Springbank Airport under long-term leases from the Government of Canada
The Role
Reporting to Director, Environmental Services; this safety-sensitive position’s
overall responsibility is to manage the water quality management program. The
position is responsible for the following primary duties:
- Maintain the overall Water Quality Management
program, ensuring airport activities adhere to applicable Municipal,
Provincial and Federal water quality regulations
- Oversee the Water Quality Management program,
including: maintenance and management of the Water Quality Program
document, working with stakeholders to develop and implement campus wide
distributed deicing strategy, water quality monitoring, storm water
infrastructure monitoring and maintenance, manage permitting, provide
monthly, quarterly and annual reports; and overseeing the Airport Glycol
Committee.
- Develop program to monitor and manage the
campus wide low concentrate glycol storm water from distributed deicing
operations.
- Assist the Environmental Team in managing
other environmental programs including: Noise, Wildlife, Air Quality, Land
Use & Planning and Material Management.
Basic Requirements
§ Environmental science education combined with experience in
environmental monitoring with an emphasis on water quality monitoring and
reporting. .
§ Relevant industrial and environmental regulatory experience
§ Knowledgeable with relevant federal and provincial environmental
legislation in Alberta
§ Ability to evaluate technical data to ensure compliance to
applicable regulations, and promote positive environmental performance among
airport tenants and staff.
§ Previous experience writing relevant technical reports and
regulatory submissions
§ Strong written and verbal communication skills for developing
policies, documents, public presentations, training and consultation with
airport tenants over environmental issues.
§ Ability to build internal and external relationships with airport
partners and tenants including Municipal, Provincial and Federal authorities.
§ Knowledge of ISO 14000.
§ Ability to obtain and maintain a Restricted Area Identification
Card (RAIC).

§ Design and deliver environmental training programs,
§ Completion of site investigations, data compilation, technical
data review and analysis and reporting
§ Support the implementation, maintenance and continual improvement
Environmental Management System (EMS).
§ Help conduct or coordinate EMS and compliance audits; investigate
nonconformities and evaluate the adequacy of suggested / taken corrective and
preventive actions
§ Demonstrated multi-tasking, prioritizing and organizational skills
within in a busy department.
§ Strong proficiency with MS Office software (Word, Excel,
PowerPoint) as well as database applications for storage, retrieval, analysis
and presentation purposes.
§ Ability to secure an Airport Vehicle Operators Permit
