Supervisor, Ground Operations (Ramp)
Canadian North - Iqaluit, NU
Reports To: Station Manager Posting: Internal/External Competition No: SGO-YFB14 Canadian North is adding a second supervisor to the Ground Operations in Iqaluit. This position is essential to ensure a continual focus of on time performance while delivering outstanding customer service in a safe, secure and cost effective manner. Responsibilities:

 Actively participate in the Company’s Safety Management Systems program and demonstrate knowledge of employee responsibilities regarding safety
 Ensure a continual focus of on time performance while delivering outstanding customer service in a safe, secure and cost effective manner
 Attend to and resolve operational problems as they arise
 Assist the Customer Service Manager in the administration of Company policies and procedures  Provide leadership and support to the Customer Service, Operation and Ramp Agents by ensuring clear communication, implementing Company policies and procedures and establishing performance goals
 Supervise ramp operations performed by contract ramp employees
 Leading ramp attendants as required or directed by Station Manager.
 Regularly give updates to Station Manager regarding employee performance.
 Ensure ground handling contract obligations are met by ground handling employees
 Assist Ground and Operations Agents with IROPS and scheduling
 Assist with charter operations as required
 Other duties as required

Qualifications:

 Minimum one year of operational experience in an airport environment
 Minimum one year of experiences in a ramp environment, particularly experience involving DHC-8 and B737 aircraft types
 Must have Grade 12 education and/or equivalent experience
 Knowledge of the Automated Weight & Balance Program is essential
 Knowledge of Canadian North's manual Weight and Balance process is a definite asset
 Clear understanding of Sabre functions and all facets of operational handling
 Effective interpersonal skills in dealing with customers, the public, company management and employees and contract management and employees
 Ability to work under pressure and make sound decisions
 Demonstrated ability to multitask and possess good time management skills
 Strong ability to determine performance goals and ability to hold others accountable
 At least Grade 12 education
 Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
 Ability to travel and work flexible hours (work hours include early mornings, late evenings, weekends, statutory holidays)
 Well-spoken English, proven communication skills with the ability to work in a team environment
 Ability to lift up to 75lbs on a continuous basis
 Hard working, keen, responsible, dedicated and safety oriented
 Ideally, previous lead/supervisory experience
 Must be able to work in all weather conditions as 95% is spent outside all year round
 Mechanically inclined is considered an asset
 Clean criminal record – must be able to obtain a Restricted Area Pass
 Must be legally eligible to work in Canada with no stipulations
