Flight Instructor

Allied Wings is a consortium led by Kelowna Flightcraft Ltd that includes Canadian Helicopters Ltd, Canadian Base Operators, and Atlantis Systems International Inc. We provide services to the Government of Canada under the Contracted Flying Training and Support Services (CFTS) contract. 

Allied Wings provides modern flight training to the Canadian Forces in primary, rotary and multi-engine training. This training involves advanced methodologies of instruction, state of the art courseware and flight simulation; all designed to provide the best training possible for aircrew.

Allied Wings offers primary flying training, multi-engine training and rotary flight training with 36 different courses in those streams. Allied Wings provides ground school instructors, courseware, flight services and the aircraft, while the Canadian Forces provides flying instructors for the multi-engine and rotary wing programs. We also provide new aircraft and simulators, meteorological services, air traffic control, emergency response, and airfield aviation services. We are also responsible for plane and simulator maintenance. 

Allied Wings provides 34 aircraft, including Grob G120A aircraft that are used for primary flying training, Raytheon King Air C-90B for multi-engine flying training, Bell 206B III Jet Rangers, and Bell 412 helicopters for multi engine helicopter flying training.

This position is responsible for delivering Ab-Initio training on the GROB 120A aircraft to Canadian Air Force Pilots. 


Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:
• Provide instruction to Phase I students on the Grob 120A including:
- Student briefings, air lessons, de-briefings and associated administrative tasks
• Provide academic ground instruction in subjects assigned by the Chief Flying Instructor, while maintaining proficiency in those subjects
• Invigilate and review exams in the assigned subjects, including marking, corrections, and the recording of student marks
• May be assigned secondary school tasks. This may include, but is not limited to:
- Courseware evaluation
- French language translation
- Subject Matter Expert
- Testing Officer
• Maintain effective communication with staff, students, and military colleagues 

Essential Qualifications:
• Transport Canada commercial license and fixed wing instructor rating (Class 3 Instructor rating or higher)
• Minimum 500 hours instructing experience
• Ability to obtain Aerobatic rating
• Successful DND and/or Allied Wings QA ride upon completion of training
• A valid TC Medical Certificate
• Public Works and Government Services Enhanced Reliability Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:
• Bilingual – English/French
• Aerobatic Instructor Rating
• Instrument Rating 
• 1000 hours instructing experience
• Be an ex-military QFI (B-Category or higher)

Knowledge and Skills Required: 
• Ability to adapt to military-style flight instruction and communication protocol
• Instructional experience in an aviation environment strongly desired
• Familiar and comfortable with MS Office suite
• Motivated and an effective team contributor
• Demonstrated leadership qualities and professionalism
• Strong problem solving capability and self-directed
• Interested in further developing instructional skills
