Cargojet is Canada's leading provider of time sensitive overnight air cargo services. Cargojet services 14 major city centers coast to coast each business night. Cargojet operates its network across North America carrying approximately 750,000 pounds of cargo each business night. Cargojet has a fleet of 22 aircraft consisting of B767-300ER, B767-200ER, B757-200ER and B727-200AF long range freighter aircraft.
We are presently accepting applications for the position of Station Manager. Based out of Winnipeg, the successful applicant will be responsible for the efficient handling of cargo and optimization of volume at the Winnipeg station, while ensuring on time performance and maintaining a safe work environment for employees.
Shift Hours: Mon-Fri, Night Shifts (9:00PM - 5:00AM)
Position Functions:
- Provide leadership, training, motivation and direction to all staff.
- Coach and develop employees, including performance management, training, orientation and disciplinary action.
- Schedule & manage employee shifts.
- Recruit & select employees.
- Delegate supplier orders and other tasks to staff; perform supplier audits.
- Participate, oversee and audit workplace health & safety matters.
- Create and implement contingency plans in the event of operational disruptions.
- Advise key staff of abnormal freight movements and special handling instructions.
- Complete and approve payroll timesheets on a bi-weekly basis.
- Prepare, collect & review documentation and establish procedures specific to the station’s operation.
- Co-operate with Airport Authority and other carriers to ensure assistance when required.
- Prepare reports for Senior Management as required.
- Assist contract and non-contract customers in order to maintain customer service levels.
- Oversee all contract suppliers.
- Ensure compliance with all Cargojet policies and regulatory/legislative requirements.
- Communicate with down line stations to ensure available resources (ULDs, herc straps, etc.) are forwarded as needed.
- Communicate with customers in regards to daily volume.
- Co-ordinate daily plan in regards to loading/unloading customer tender/retrieval.
- Inform Local and National Management of nightly volumes and delays.
- Operate within budget parameters.
- Perform any other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma; Post-Secondary education in an Aviation related or Management program would be an asset.
- 3+ years of previous management experience in the airfreight industry.
- Ability to lead, coach and motivate staff.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of all MS Office programs.
- Organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to obtain a Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC).
- Ability to multi-task in a fast paced and noisy environment.
- Basic accounting/general math skills.
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Trained in WHMIS, SMS, First-Aid, Weight & Balance, Dangerous Goods and relevant Health & Safety courses.
