The Vancouver Airport Authority has an opportunity for a Manager, Technology Services in the Information Technology (IT) Department with a specific focus on business process and data analytics. Reporting to the Director, Technology Services, the successful candidate will lead the business process and data analytics function. The candidate will become the Authority's primary expert on how the organization performs its business functions. In particular, this person will have the most complete and holistic understanding of how our business operates from a process and data perspective.
Key responsibilities include:
- Being a key contributor to the development of the Business Intelligence roadmap
- Playing a lead role in "big data" initiatives
- Making data useful
- Working with users to understand their process and data
- Defining, promoting and implementing an enterprise architecture for YVR; the standards for modelling data and process, as well as the incremental construction of an inventory that represents our business
- Mapping and modelling key business process flows
- Leading process improvement initiatives through the disciplined use of measurements, accountability, analysis and discussion of process alternatives in order to arrive at best practices
- Facilitating business intelligence team(s) through identifying and implementing process improvements
- Bringing expertise or identifying subject matter experts in support of multi-functional efforts in process improvement, data capture and analysis, infrastructure support and tool ownership
- Developing and maintaining positive relationships with customers
- Developing and supporting programs such as Data Standardization, Data Stewardship, and Master-Data Management
- Leading the provision of services around our data warehouse
- Defining and implementing of interfaces between systems
- Overseeing the work a team of Business and Technical Analysts by ensuring that both day-to-day and project work is being managed appropriately
Key qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or a related field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
- Working knowledge of notable BI reporting tools
- Knowledge of data warehousing tools and concepts including data models, database design, data quality, meta data management and SQL programing language is an asset
- Strong management and supervisory skills with demonstrated ability to:
- Set priorities, assign resources and achieve milestones
- Coach, motivate, evaluate and performance manage staff
- Minimum 5 years of recent experience managing multiple staff who are in turn managing numerous individual projects
- A broad knowledge and understanding of information technology in order to communicate effectively with subject matter experts
- Solid relationship building skills with all levels of an organization, both internally and externally
- Team player with well-developed interpersonal and communication skills and proven experience managing and coaching teams for high performance
- Motivated self-starter
- Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment
- Experience in process re-engineering is an asset as is familiarity with processes and technologies available to simplify process flows
