POSITION: Chief Dispatcher DEPARTMENT: Flight Operations LOCATION: Toronto, ON REPORTING TO: Director, Flight Operations The Chief Dispatcher is responsible to the Director of Flight Operations for overseeing the organization, functionality and ongoing training and certification requirements of the Operations Control Centre. RESPONSIBILITIES Oversight of dispatch personnel to ensure regulatory compliance and consistency as necessary; Oversight of the processing and auction of any dispatch reports; Overall management and supervision of the dispatchers; Oversight of the Dispatch Standard Operating Procedures; Oversight of the developing and/or implementing of all required approved training programs for dispatch; The development and implementation of standards, policies and procedures pertaining to dispatch; Creating airport acceptability reports for Chief Pilot approval for all aerodromes and routes served by Sunwing Airlines; Managing and ensuring the operational capacity/capability of all dispatch related support systems; Providing day-to-day administrative, functional and technical direction to the Dispatchers on behalf of the Director, Flight Operations (Chief Pilot); Monitoring the Dispatcher work schedules to ensure adequate and efficient staffing; Liaising with external agencies that may affect operations; Ensuring that all Dispatch personnel are provided with adequate training, checking and route familiarization suitable to the position being held; Maintaining evaluations and training records of Dispatchers; Monitoring and measuring Dispatcher performance relative to their knowledge and understanding of standards and procedures; In his/her absence, all responsibilities for duties shall be delegated to another qualified Flight Operations Manager; Active member of the standards committee; Acting as Dispatcher as required; Additional tasks as assigned by the Director, Flight Operations (Chief Pilot). QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE Must have passed both of the Transport Canada generic examinations, Meteorology and Operations Must meet all of the requirements to hold a Dispatcher Certificate Must have experience in an Airline Operations Center Work experience as a Flight Dispatcher Previous Management experience If you are interested in this opportunity please submit your resume and cover letter to the Human Resources department by e-mail.
