Shell Canada is currently seeking an Aviation Manager for our Heavy Oil group. This position will be a member of the Upstream Americas (UA) Regional Aviation Management team working as a member of the UA Regional Logistics organization.
A Day in the life of a Shell Canada Aviation Manager:
- Management, control and improvement of contracted air operations
- Delivering on Aviation HSSE and cost performance targets
- Functioning as the Air Operations Supervisor (AOS) for Shell in their assigned area
- Assisting to develop, prepare, negotiate and implement harmonized air support contracts and strategies (both initially and on renewal) to ensure high standards of safety and efficiency at a competitive cost.
The Aviation Managers Principal Areas of Responsibilities are as follows:
Contract Management
- Maintain contracts, interface with vendors, and/or subcontractors to primary vendors to ensure contractual compliance
- Provide management of the air and aviation terminal operations contracts
- Ensure contractor compliance with Shell standards and conduct regular contractor engagements and performance assessments
- Participate in development of logistics metrics, scorecards, and performance reporting of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Participate in the validation of operational targets and communication to the out-source contractor
- Develop clear and concise communications and presentation for all financial results
- Participate in reporting on performance to Business Plan and Budget
- Provide management reports on look-backs, trend analysis, comparisons, and change progress
- Identify and facilitate improvement in business process controls to reduce cycle times and costs
Health, Safety, Security & Environmental:
- Assist in developing and implementing the UA Aviation HSSE case
- Participate in safety audits, incident reporting and investigation, incident profile matrix designation
- Ensure safety and compliance audit findings are responded to and closed out in a timely manner
- Conduct airport / heliport / field site / and helideck audits and inspections to Group standards
- Demonstrates safe work practices, takes part in safety meetings as required, and advises relevant personnel of any non-conforming conditions
- Develop, negotiate, and promulgate aviation safe practices based on regulation and Group standards
- Assist in coordinating / providing resources during emergencies, and participate in development of emergency response plans
- Supports Regional Production Directorate's commitment to safety by complying with programs regarding health, safety and protection of the environment
PLEASE NOTE: This role requires up to 30% travel both domestically and internationally
Requirements We are looking for someone with the following Qualifications and Experiences:
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
- A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
- At least 15 years of experience in the aviation industry, and have held management positions within an oil industry company, aircraft operating company, or equivalent military organization.
- Significant logistics experience in the Oil and Gas industry is preferred.
- Must be a licensed pilot (ATPL is preferred / CPL is acceptable) or aircraft engineer (A&P licensed).
- Military equivalency for these credentials is acceptable.
- Must have a valid Driver's license and be able to drive during day or night time hours
- Must hold a valid Passport and be able to travel within North America
- Demonstrated experience in the aviation industry
- Demonstrated management experience within an oil & gas company, an aircraft operating company, or a relevant military branch
- Demonstrated knowledge of 14 CFR or international aviation regulations
- Demonstrated aviation maintenance experience including the management of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, maintenance of quality assurance principles, and serviceability and dispatch requirements
- Demonstrated logistics experience including the planning of shipped goods and the establishment of logistics support, awareness of time-distance considerations, aviation logistical support requirements, budgeting, and hazardous material handling
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects and deadlines, work on diverse cross functional teams
- Strong presentation & communication skills
- Physically able to work in an offshore environment, achieve and maintain a HUET certification, and conduct personnel transfer offshore by swing line, personnel hoisting device, etc.
Preference will be given to applicants who have graduated from the following:
- Civilian or military accident investigation course
- Civilian or military aviation safety course
- Civilian or military maintenance management or maintenance quality assurance course
- Civilian or military experimental test pilot course
- Military maintenance test pilot course
- Factory pilot or maintenance course
- ISO 9001:2004 lead auditors course
