Supervisor, Ops (Transport Department) Position Summary: Reporting to the Manager of Transportation the Supervisor Operations leads drivers of High Lift trucks and coordinates catering services between our flight kitchen and the air side of YVR. Essentially a leadership role, you will direct day-to-day activities of the team, solve problems, react quickly and seek resolution of issues, manage the team's performance, and be accountable to the results of the department. Essential Responsibilities: Ensures quality production standards are maintained for all accounts Responsible for obtaining control sheets & making assignments for team drivers to flights daily Checks dock area to ensure that employees have required equipment & trucks leave according schedule Ensures catering for correct aircraft and flights Ensures all employees comply with safety procedures & Airport Transport Authority badging requirements Ensures performance improvement of the unit Assists with late flights & equipment changes Responsible for getting information from airlines on service requirements & updates Maintains radio contact with Operations Manager, meal planer & leads during operation Conducts regular checks of the kitchen to ensure no equipment was left behind after flights leave the kitchen Responsible for security, proper transportation of galleys & cleanliness of vehicles Responsible for safety, quality & compliance with customer specifications, regulatory requirements & company policies & procedures Ensures specifications, airline diagrams &other standards are accurate according to airline specifications. Ensures that all products are coded according to Gate Gourmet procedures. Ensures preventive maintenance of machinery & fleet according to schedules, reports maintenance & repair issues in timely manner. Maintains financial goals related to material, productivity, overtime & labor goals Trains &monitors employees on proper work procedures to ensure maximum productivity & security with minimum labor & food costs Responsible for performance evaluation, coaching, counseling & corrective action for employees & liaises with HR & other support functions. Manages work flow balancing division of responsibilities amongst employees on each shift including assignment of responsibilities & workstations. Determines number of employees needed by shift & when/whether to call employees in to cover staffing needs (ex. sick calls, vacation relief, medical leaves, volume changes, etc.) Work Requirements: Must be able to work afternoon shifts, weekends and holidays 3+ years supervisory experience in a high volume, manufacturing, food production or catering environment 3+ years’ experience as a driver and/or in a customer service capacity Experience working in the airline industry & unionized environments assets Valid driver’s license & clean driving record. CDL driver’s license is a plus.
