The Vancouver Airport Authority has a permanent, full-time opportunity for a Ground Transportation Representative in the Commercial Services Department.  Reporting to the Manager, Commercial Leasing, the successful candidate will ensure the safe, secure and efficient operation of all groundside services.


Key responsibilities include:
  • Building and maintaining strong day-to-day relations with internal and external customers including groundside service contractors, car rental, scheduled bus, courtesy shuttle, limousine and taxi operators
  • Assisting in overseeing all commercial vehicle and curb operations
  • Handling and resolving both internal and external customer issues and requests
  • Researching and initializing action on illegal or rogue commercial vehicle operators
  • Developing and conducting on-going measurement of customer service standards/levels provided by ground transportation services and suppliers
  • Issuing leases and licences and ensuring compliance for service providers
  • Coordinate Request for Proposals processes for ground transportation services and/or suppliers
  • Facilitating groundside operations impacted by construction and/or special events 
  • Managing ground transportation contractors and curb activity and cruise ship bus operations
  • Participating in various internal and/or external committees
  • Assisting with and working on any related ground transportation work as required
Key qualifications include:
  • Post-secondary education or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Certified Traffic Control Designation 
  • Previous experience working in an leasing environment is considered an asset
  • Excellent oral communication and business writing skills is essential 
  • Strong organizational and project management experience should include excellent problem solving abilities
  • Proven conflict resolution and mediation skills and experience in dealing with customer and business partner conflicts and resolutions
  • Sound judgment in formulating quick decisions 
  • Superior customer service skills with a proven ability to balance customer experiences while ensuring operational efficiencies and rules/regulations are applied
  • Strong facilitation and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, including PowerPoint; familiarity with CAD (Computer Aided Drawings) for construction and layout planning is an asset
  • Ability to learn and adapt to change 
  • Experience in ground transportation, parking and/or commercial services would be an asset
