The Victoria Airport Authority manages the safe and secure operation of Victoria International Airport and is responsible for the development and maintenance of airport infrastructure. Named the best Regional Airport in North America for customer service, by Airports Council International in February 2015, Victoria International Airport is the 10th busiest airport in Canada, with over 1.6 million passengers per year, and more than 120 daily flights throughout North America.
With an understanding that the most effective way to provide the ultimate customer experience is to continually provide effective leadership and support for their own people, the Victoria Airport Authority is now looking for a talented human resource professional to assume the critical operational role of Manager, Human Resources.

Reporting directly to the CEO, and actively participating as a key part of the management team, this diverse and challenging role will provide consistent leadership and advisory services within the full spectrum of human resource functions including but not limited to: employee engagement, labour relations, health and safety, classification and compensation and recruitment and retention. Ensuring the smooth and consistent execution of the day-to-day operations of the human resources department, the Manager, Human Resources will also focus on the achievement of strategic priorities and deliverables as it relates to the future growth of the organization and also specific HR-related projects.



A confident, strategic-thinking individual with a detail-oriented approach to work, the successful candidate will possess the proven leadership experience and skills necessary to both mentor the 2 direct reports within the HR department, as well as build credible, trusting and supportive relationships with all internal and external stakeholders; including a productive and positive union/management relationship.

In order to be set up for success within this multi-faceted position, you will have a university degree coupled with your CHRP designation, and a minimum of five to seven (5 – 7) years’ proven experience as a senior human resource professional. Experience working within a unionized environment and the ability to interpret collective agreements is also a prerequisite for consideration for the role at hand. Additionally, you will be an excellent communicator, both written and orally, and possess the innate and proven ability to understand, support and drive both collaboration and change when and as required; ensuring the consideration of all stakeholders, and linking new ideas to practical successes.
