Senior Advisor, Communications
Greater Toronto Airports Authority - Toronto, ON
Reporting to the Manager, External Communications, this position is responsible for day to day media relations, external communications and public relations support to the organization. They will also be a key point of contact for internal customers who want to use our corporate news channels to deliver external communications. The incumbent will manage all of the external communications channels for their clients while developing communications plans for new and enhanced channels and projects. The incumbent will also support internal communications team members as required.

Job Description
Key Accountabilities: 
  • Support and implement communications plans for multiple departments within the GTAA
  • Work directly with internal clients to recommend, develop, direct, implement and measure the effectiveness of integrated communication strategies
  • Manage the implementation of tactics impacting all key stakeholders, both external and internal, in support of the business goals of internal stakeholders
  • Design, develop and implement tactical communication plans integrating key messages and ensuring communications are timely, relevant, targeted, clear, consistent and concise
  • Social media – posting, responding and creating social media campaigns on behalf of Toronto Pearson
  • Creation and distribution of materials for news media outlets, responding to media inquiries, involvement with irregular operations communications and crisis communications; spokesperson responsibilities; tact, timing and confidentiality issues must be considered at all times.
  • Creative thinking to meet the needs of various stakeholders
  • Analyze and integrate large amounts of new information quickly and accurately
  • Responsible for being a customer centric Leader with respect to the Mission, Vision, Values and Beliefs
  • The successful incumbent will be required to be on-call/standby on an as required basis

Job Requirements
Qualifications: 
  • The successful candidate will possess either a university degree or 3 year college diploma focusing on: public relations/communications or related field and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience in external communications within a complex organization
  • Valid Ontario G Driver’s License
  • Must be able to obtain and retain a Transportation Security Clearance
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 
  • Demonstrated experience in a Customer Centric organization, familiar with Customer Experience models
  • Strong proficiency with computer applications such as Microsoft 2010, HTML.
  • Ability to work with confidential information
  • Superior writing and editing skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and relationship management experience
  • Experience creating content for social media
  • Experience working in a unionized, 24/7 workplace would be an asset
  • Demonstrated time management, organizational and prioritization skills
  • Demonstrated experience in working in an ever-changing environment
