Manager, Innovative Travel Solutions – Innovative Travel Solutions Department (Term)

The Vancouver Airport Authority has an term opportunity (until July 2016) for a Manager, Innovative Travel Solutions . Reporting to the Director, Innovative Travel Solutions, the successful candidate will provide strategic direction and leadership with business administration, finance, planning and analysis. He/she will provide recommendations and business analysis and will collaborate with the leadership team within the Innovative Travel Solutions department to ensure that the Authority’s values and guiding principles are demonstrated through service, quality product development, delivery and support.

Key responsibilities include: 
  • Leading Finance and Strategy efforts on behalf of the Innovation Travel Solutions leadership team through short term and long term forecasting and planning
  • Building trusted relationships with key business partners both external and internal to the organization
  • Managing profit & loss forecasting processes (monthly and quarterly forecasts, scenario modelling)
  • Driving improved management reporting, while working with the Finance & Accounting departments to discreetly and accurately track financial results
  • Driving and preparing existing management reporting– analyse financial results, distil and synthesize issues, communicate key messages to senior management
  • Assisting Leadership team in analysis and presentation of strategic materials for key management and Board meetings
  • Developing repeatable business, operational and financial processes widely understood by all key stakeholders
  • Building detailed financial, scenario based models to evaluate potential alternatives
  • Assisting in other ad-hoc analysis and presentation requests
  • Maintaining process documentation for all key processes
  • Providing updates to the Innovative Travel Solutions’ leadership team, and reporting on group and process performance against objectives
  • Representing Innovative Travel Solutions as industry leaders, externally to customers and stakeholders
  • Providing leadership to the team by promoting regular opportunities for staff to innovate, turn challenges into opportunities, and provide constructive input on strategic and business planning efforts and program operations
  • Providing direction to the technical team which includes monitoring work efforts and performance, coaching, motivating and supporting developmental activities
  • Identifying success measures for the technical team and individual team members’ performance, communicating expectations, and collaborating to meet agreed upon standards
Key qualifications include: 
  • Undergraduate degree in Bachelor of Commerce or other related field, with preference towards a CA- CPA, CMA-CPA or CFA.
  • 10 years of similar work experience in a fast paced start up environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence, strategize, and identify creative and innovative solutions that address and mitigate challenges
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; anticipatory and strategic in every aspect of the role
  • Ability to work largely independent of the Director
  • An experienced problem solver
