Position Summary: Reporting to the Associate Director, Deicing Operations, this position is responsible for overseeing the development, maintenance, delivery and evaluation of training services related to deicing operations. This position will work closely with all internal and external stakeholders to determine requirements and develop strategies for training and awareness programs to facilitate delivery of safe, efficient, world class deicing services.
Job Requirements Key Accountabilities:
- Develop and implement the GTAA Aircraft Ground Deicing Training Program in accordance with all applicable regulations.
- Train, monitor, and evaluate performance of all employees on equipment required to support the GTAA Aircraft Ground Deicing Program.
- Conduct and/or oversee initial and recurrent training requirements for all employees on equipment required to support the GTAA Aircraft Ground Deicing Program.
- Establish performance metrics and evaluate training deliverables against objectives to ensure continuous improvement
- Audit and evaluate Operations/Colleagues for compliance.
- Maintain training files/records.
- Perform Quality Assurance during active Deicing operations.
- Provide direction to Deicing operations Technical Inspector staff
- Facilitate Deicing audits. Conduct external 3rd party audits and training
- Conduct internal audits
- Manage, engage, coach and guide the Deicing Operations Training team to foster a unified and effective team environment to achieve group and individual accountabilities
- Develop and manage annual budget and business plan aligned to the Corporate Strategic Plan
- Support event management (IMS)
- Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Possesses a postsecondary degree in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field and or 7+ years of combined equivalent work experience and education
- Certification in OHS Management Program
- Minimum of 5+years of work experience in a Facilities department or operational or manufacturing environment
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience direct or indirect in People Management (direct report or cross-functional)
- Experience in aircraft deicing operations at Toronto Pearson International Airport is preferred
- The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, motivated, independent thinker with the ability to work within a team oriented environment
- Must have a valid Ontario G Driver's License
- Must be able to obtain a D/A AVOP license within thirty (30) days of appointment to the position
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge/experience/familiarity with legislation pertaining to Occupational Health & Safety
- Knowledge of Federal legislation (i.e. Canada Labour Code)
- Ability to be a strong negotiator with demonstrated business acumen
- Strong ability influence across the organizations
- Strong ability to communicate and present in a concise clear articulate manner
- Ability to develop key relationships with stakeholders at all levels within the organizations
- Excellent communication skills to effectively reach a broad audience of internal and external customers, guests and other key stakeholders
- Strong decision-making skills and demonstrates a sense of urgency to deliver operational excellence
