Aviation Industry Career Fair

The BCIT Student Association (BCITSA) held a stellar industry career fair for the students and recent grads of the programs at the Aerospace Campus, including Airport Operations and Flight Operations.

BCITSA took a unique two-step approach to the event.  As the first step Sara Kandathil invited students to a career fair workshop, which was designed to help students make the most of the opportunities to network and learn more about individual employers.  The next step required students to put those tips into practice at a career fair targeted to the aviation industry.

This year, over 200 students met representatives from 14 employers including Nav Canada, Transport Canada, TransWest Airlines, Helijet, Harbour Air, Jazz, The BC Aviation Council, Vector Aerospace, Pacific Coastal, AeroMag and more.  Because the career event was so focused, employers also brought BCIT alumni who are current employees to answer questions from current students!  Students who plan to graduate in the next couple of months found some great opportunities as several employers were actively recruiting.  Other students, just beginning their aviation careers, had a great opportunity to explore career options and begin to build a network of industry professionals.  Early feedback indicates the Industry Career Fair was a great success.  And, at least one person already has a new position lined up, which is a pretty good outcome for both parties!
