SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS: Include, but not limited to, the following minimum skills and qualifications:
- 2 years post secondary education in a related field of study
- 3+ years supervisory/managerial experience within the airline industry, developing procedures, supervising,coaching, and developing staff
- 5-7 years airline experience with focus on cargo operations, customer service and transportation of dangerousgoods
- Superior operating knowledge of cargo operations and procedures, including ground handling, cargo acceptance and dangerous goods and regulations
- Operational knowledge of aircraft ground handling for all Company aircraft types
- Proficient in Windows, Word and Excel
- Solid customer service skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Budgeting experience required
- Experience managing a unionized workforce
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and spoken)
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to coach, mentor, and motivate
- Possesses a solid understanding of the business and customer environment
- Experience with developing and implementing procedures
- Must be willing to travel extensively
- Bilingualism considered an asset
- Ability to obtain and retain a Restricted Area Identity Card in accordance with the Airport Restricted Area Access Clearance Program regulated by Transport Canada
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Interested candidates should be able to perform the following duties and responsibilities:
- Builds a work culture such that maximizing revenue, optimizing sales and ensuring customer satisfaction are key to drive effectiveness
- Ensures the performance of all cargo and ramp operations are in accordance with regulatory, Company and customer requirements Ensures revenue targets and service delivery are met; negotiates cargo contracts and short/long term cargo handling agreements
- Fulfills the role of the Company's Dangerous Goods Coordinator in accordance with Transport Canada Regulations
- Provides direction and resolutions for all operational requirements for the daily operation to the frontline managers
- Develops and maintains cargo and ramp SOPs and training programs and ensures delivery of departmental training
- Ensures Cargo Security Regulations for domestic and international flights are current and being followed
- Oversees and maintains the Company’s Weight & Balance Program, including the distribution of all relevant information
- Assists in route performance analysis and planning from a cargo perspective for all operations
- Responsible for preparation of expense and revenue budgets; cost and revenue analysis and overall departmental cost effectiveness
- Provides oversight for Safety Management and Quality Assurance as it pertains to cargo and ramp operations
- Conducts risk assessments, investigations and respond to HOIRs as required
- Develops safety, operational and security audits, to be performed on a quarterly basis, thereby ensuring quality and compliance with all regulatory and Company policies
- Develops and undertakes quality assurance audits as required to ensure key customer expectations are being met
- Provides leadership to direct/indirect reports to ensure departmental objectives are achieved in a safe and efficient manner
- Active member of the First Air Emergency Response team
- Other duties as required
