Adventure Travel Marketing and Administrative Coordinator Position
We’re looking for an ambitious and team-oriented Coordinator to join our fun, passionate, and energetic crew! You will assist with marketing, including social media, as well as administer pre- and post-expedition guest services. Candidates must be strong writers, very self-motivated and genuinely excited to ensure that our guests have the best possible experience with Outer Shores from start to finish. Education and/or experience in travel and tourism, communications and/or marketing are required.
START DATE: January/February 2016
PAY: Dependent upon experience.
HOURS: 9:00 to 5:00 pm, 4 days a week to start
DUTIES
- Respond to inquiries and questions, process payments, and provide pre-departure documentation and guest support
- Copy editing press releases, newsletters, websites, blogs, etc.
- Assist and eventually manage website content and media
- Assist and eventually manage online marketing efforts
- Assist and eventually manage social media campaigns
- Populate social media channels
- Manage mailing lists and campaigns
- Assist with various logistics as necessary
WHAT WE LOOK FOR
- Flexible and adaptable; Outer Shores is a small company so we need someone with an ‘all hands on deck’ attitude
- Strong administrative and organizational skills
- Strong customer service and sales skills are a must. This position is responsible for providing potential guests with information required to book their trip, and ensuring booked guests are fully-prepared for their adventure ahead
- Keen interest in online and social media marketing and demonstration of experience using various social media platforms and tools such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and LinkedIn
- Experience using digital image/video editing software an asset (e.g. iMovie, FinalCut Pro, iPhoto, Lightroom, Aperture, or similar)
- Experience using Google Docs, Sites, Spreadsheets, Smartsheets, etc.
- Experience using WordPress-based websites to update content and media
- Motivated self-starter; takes initiative to start and finish projects
- Strong written and interpersonal communications skills
- Strong organizational skills/detail-oriented – can catch typos & will be on top of projects/tasks
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize work in a changing environment and the ability to time manage extremely well
- Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in marketing, English, travel & tourism, or related discipline preferred
- Must provide writing samples (i.e. newsletters, blog posts, etc)
- A passion for adventure travel, sailing, kayaking, natural history, wildlife, First Nations cultural heritage, gastronomy, education, marine conservation, and the well-being of the BC Coast.
- Willing and able to participate in a limited number of expeditions each year in order to ensure familiarity with vessel, crew, destinations and associated logistics.
