Reporting to the Associate Director, Air Service Development this position is responsible for managing a highly skilled team and ensuring the effective allocation of terminal facilities and services in order to facilitate the attainment of the GTAA’s overall business objectives. The salary for this management non-unionized position is competitive based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and its slotting as Professional Support Level 3, Grade 9 in the GTAA salary administration program.
Job Description
- Managing the airport slot allocation process to maximize use of airport facilities while meeting or exceeding customer requirements, and ensuring compliance with the IATA Worldwide Scheduling Guidelines
- Maintain a view of the long term facility requirements to meet the growing needs of Toronto Pearson
- Work collaboratively with other members of the GTAA to achieve our growth strategy
- Negotiation of air carrier requested slot times on behalf of the GTAA in a team oriented spirit.
- Liaise with members of Airport Coordination Canada Limited (ACCL), air carrier representatives and possible other airport representatives on formal GTAA business matters.
- Development and cultivation of airport key stakeholder relationships, along with providing guidance and insight on current industry landscape when required.
- Oversight of production of demand estimates for various airport facilities and government agencies
- Oversight and coordination of the application process for the new carrier entrant program
- Oversight of on-time performance monitoring and developing rectification measures in collaboration with airlines
- Monitoring changes to the rule development and maintenance for Airport Operational Database (AODB) and other Airport Operational Systems.
- Management of the restricted hour exemption approval and tracking process in order to comply with Transport Canada approved budgets.
- Participate in providing regular traffic profiling, industry insight and guidance on annual traffic forecast.
- Oversight of ad hoc analyses that include (but not limited to): robust modeling of stand / gate plans, check-in counters, and governmental agency capacities, while providing recommendations on optimization and working with internal stakeholders on identifying areas of opportunities or improvement.
- Represent Slots and Capacity Allocation at various projects associated with airport’s new resource management system (RMS).

Job Requirements Qualifications:
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Aviation Management or a related field
- Minimum least five to ten years of progressive work experience in airline business and/or airport planning and/or operations is required.
- Industry related experience in aviation or transportation preferred
- Demonstrated experience as a People Leader in a matrix organization: direct report or cross-functional experience preferred
- Experience working within a unionized environment is a definite asset
- Valid Ontario Driver’s License
- Must be able to obtain and retain a Transportation Security Clearance
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- An in depth knowledge of airline route network planning, airline scheduling and IATA’s Worldwide Scheduling guidelines.
- Strong decision making skills and the ability to act independently as well as within a team environment.
- A profound understanding of data analysis and processing flows at airport facilities.
- A keen insight into continuous improvement for current processes and analytical procedures.
- Demonstrated management skills, particularly in the areas of coaching, administration, conflict resolution, delegating work to direct reports and tracking progress / performance.
- Robust knowledge of aviation industry trends and as well as an understanding of terminal facility allocation, including gates, check-in counters and governmental agency services
- Strong relationship building skills, working with internal and external clients and partners
- Excellent written and verbal communication / presentation skills, and effective negotiating skills
- Strong multitasking ability, with effective organizational and time management skills
- Proficient computer user, with advanced knowledge of spreadsheet and MS Office applications
