Reporting to the Director, Public Affairs and Stakeholder Relations, this position is responsible for two key areas: 1) Building community trust and vocal champions for Toronto Pearson’s Regional Airports Strategy through advocacy, government relations and public affairs stakeholder program development and delivery and engagement. 2) Supporting the President & CEO in his role as incoming Chair of the Canadian Airports Council of Canada as well as other responsibilities tied to the Office of the President. The successful incumbent will be required to regularly engage with governments and key business and aviation industry stakeholders on issues of strategic importance to the GTAA. The salary for this management non-unionized position is competitive based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and its slotting as Professional Support Level 2, Grade 8 in the GTAA salary administration program. Job Requirements Qualifications: • Post-Secondary degree in political studies, communication, or a related field • Minimum 5 years’ experience in stakeholder or government relations or in a government/political office • Demonstrated experience working in a customer centric environment • Industry experience in aviation, airline and transportation is considered an asset • Minimum 2 years’ experience in People Management directly or indirectly through cross-functional teams • Must have a valid Ontario G Driver's License • Must be able to obtain and retain a Transportation Security Clearance Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Knowledge of airport and the aviation industry is an asset • Understand how government policy is developed and how decisions are made • Demonstrated ability to influence, collaborate and negotiate cross functionally in a unionized environment, as well as with external stakeholders and government to achieve results • Demonstrated ability in building strategy and to think strategically about complex and multi-faceted issues • Excellent presentation and writing skills • Project management skills • Excellent communication skills to effectively reach a broad audience of internal and external customers, guests and other key stakeholders • Experience working with C-suite or senior level politicians to provide counsel and support • Ability to work with diplomacy and tact and provide good judgment • Strong decision-making skills and the ability to influence • Ability to work in a fast-paced ever-changing environment • Ability to work additional hours (evenings and weekends) For further information, or to apply, please click here |
