Assistant Manager, Sales
First Air  - Kanata, ON
Duties and Responsibilities Interested candidates should be able to perform the following duties and responsibilities:
  • Build a work culture such that maximizing revenue and minimizing costs are key to driving efficiency
  • Provides support to the Manager, Sales in all functions including but not limited to: coordinating, implementing and maintaining passenger & cargo contracts; promotions and sponsorship opportunities; customer loyalty initiatives; coordinating logistics; and the relentless pursuit of new business
  • Identify new opportunities to generate sales leads, ancillary revenue, partnerships, advertising, sponsorships, etc. to maximize commercial revenue
  • Manage and maintain customer and contract databases, including existing & prospective business
  • Monitor and analyze customer and competitor activities, prepare reports & make recommendations
  • Provide data and conduct analysis to ensure competitive contract negotiations for new opportunities and renewals
  • Develop proposals, draft contracts, assist in negotiations and coordinate contract implementation for new and renewed business
  • Provide full contract support for corporate accounts (e.g. respond to customer inquiries, prepare quotes, issue RCA/SPF numbers, bulk tickets, group rates, promo passes, travel, etc.)
  • Assist manager to ensure effective account management
  • Lead the administration and logistics to meet contractual obligations, in close coordination with other departments
  • Investigate customer concerns/claims and coordinate resolution to maximize customer satisfaction
  • Assist in managing the sales pipeline, update weekly flash sales summary files, sales meeting action item report, etc.
  • Develop, coordinate, implement & represent First Air at corporate/community events, tradeshows and with marketing initiatives
  • Assist on special projects, as required
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications Include, but not limited to, the following minimum skills and qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2-3 year post secondary education with concentration in business, sales and/or marketing preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years managerial experience within the airline industry, developing procedures, supervising, coaching, and developing staff.
  • Previous airline or travel experience considered an asset
  • Must be fully proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Power Point)
  • Additional computer experience in airline and/or sales software preferred (e.g. Sabre, Skyline, database, etc.)
  • Adept at managing multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast paced, team-oriented environment with strong time management skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communications skills for internal/external customers and contacts
  • Demonstrated organizational, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and display a high level of initiative, creativity and enthusiasm
  • Proven negotiation skills
  • Northern experience considered an asset
  • Willingness to travel and work occasional overtime
  • Bilingualism (English/French/Inuktitut) considered an asset
  • Ability to obtain and retain a Restricted Area Identity Card in accordance with the Airport Restricted Area Access Clearance Program regulated by Transport Canada
