Calm Air is an airline servicing large and small centers northern Manitoba and Nunavut, operating daily scheduled passenger and cargo flights. We also provide charter services to a variety of customers, including Government, corporate and community group clients.
We are looking for a Vice President of Cargo based out of our Winnipeg office. POSITION SUMMARY:
The VP of Cargo is responsible for developing and implementing cargo policies and systems to support organizational strategy to grow our cargo business. This position will be responsible for building strong, professional relationships with employees and customers and will be responsible for implementing an inventory tracking system.
DUTIES:
• Responsible to provide strategic planning, development, and improvements for the Cargo operation
• Responsible to implement an internal inventory tracking system
• Responsible for negotiating various contracts
• Liaison with Director of Cargo to manage freighter utilization and daily inventory
• Logistics management – plans, implements, and controls the efficient, effective storage and delivery of goods to meet customer requirements
• Establish and evaluate performance standards for all areas of the Cargo operation that can be measured to ensure accountability to service level agreements
• Establishes and maintains professional relationships with customers and employees, promoting a good working environment with high morale and employee satisfaction
• Responsible to build and develop the Cargo team by providing direction, support, training and motivation to carry out assigned cargo strategies
• Prepares the annual department budget
• Prepares weekly, monthly and annual reports for executive management
• Ensure compliance with regulatory authorities as well as internal policies and procedures
• Demonstrate knowledge of employee responsibilities regarding safety and actively participate in the Company’s Safety Management system
• Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
• Post secondary education in business, transportation, or logistics
• 5 years experience in a senior leadership role within transportation, warehousing, or logistics required
• Proficient with Computers (MS Office)
• Excellent communication skills, ability to communicate with all levels of employees and customers
• Excellent organizational skills
• Excellent negotiation skills
• Experience implementing an inventory tracking system
• Northern experience considered an asset
• Frequent travel required
