Reporting to the Manager, Aviation Programs, Compliance and Coordination, this position is responsible for carrying out a planned program of painting all surface markings on runways, taxiways, aprons, roadways, and parking lots using various types of semiautomatic line applicators, conventional hand spray equipment, stencils, and forms.

Job Description
  • Carries out a planned program of painting all surface markings on runways, taxiways, aprons, roadways, and parking lots
  • Lays of the lines from drawings and in consultation with Engineers using various types of semiautomatic line applicators, conventional hand spray equipment, stencils, and forms
  • Increases the visibility of markings by using various types of pressure applicators and apply paint according to manufacturer’s recommendations including the application of reflective glass beads
  • Maintains and cleans painting equipment inventory utilizing various chemicals

Job Requirements
Qualifications: 
  • Must possess a Secondary School diploma
  • Minimum six (6) months’ experience in a Line Painting role required
  • Must be trained on Ontario Traffic Manual: Book 7, Temporary Conditions
  • Must possess a valid “D/Z” Ontario driver’s license
  • Must be able to work midnight shifts (up to 12 weeks)
  • Must be able to lift over 60 lbs. on a regular basis
  • Must be able to work outdoors and in a wide range of temperatures
  • Must currently have a valid “D” class AVOP permit or be able to obtain it within 30 days of appointment to the position
  • Must have a fully satisfactory work performance in his/her current position and a work record that is void of discipline and unacceptable attendance that would have a bearing on the duties, roles and responsibilities of the posted position
  • Must be able to obtain and retain a Transportation Security Clearance

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 
  • Must have knowledge of paints and their properties, in addition to an understanding of painting equipment and the principles of line painting
  • Basic knowledge of small engines with ability to troubleshoot minor issues, or mechanical aptitude preferred
  • Knowledge of heavy equipment operations
  • Willingness to learn and operate the front and back portions of the Linetech paint truck
  • Ability to read and decipher CAD drawings to layout new markings
  • Knowledge of TP312 4th and 5th edition specific to line markings
  • Knowledge of Ontario Traffic Manual: Book 7, Temporary Conditions
  • Must have knowledge of relevant safety practices and procedures associated with the trade as required including all GTAA Safety and Environmental policies
  • Must possess an excellent command of the English language, both orally and in writing
  • The successful candidates will have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, be dependable, self-motivated and show a mature approach in conflict and pressure situations
