This position is responsible for assuming an incident commander role in aircraft fire rescue operations and ensuring the safe evacuation of passengers and crew, initiating fire suppression and prevention activities, carrying out fire prevention activities, performing routine maintenance of firefighting equipment, and carrying out other duties related to fire, health and safety, and security programs at the Erik Nielson Whitehorse International Airport (ENWIA).

Essential Qualifications 
Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the following qualifications. Please note selection for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your resume. 
  • Experience as an Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighter (ARFF) at an ICAO Category 7 or higher airport
  • Experience leading and motivating others in a Fire Service Command role
  • Completion of NFPA 1001 and NFPA 1003 standards
  • Incident Command System I-200
  • JIBC Emergency Scene Management or ARFF Equivalent
  • Emergency Vehicle Operators Course or Equivalent
  • Standard First Aid with Oxygen Therapy Endorsement
  • Class 3 Driver’s Licence with air endorsement

Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above will be equally considered.

Additional Information 

Conditions of Employment :
  • Valid Yukon Class 3 driver’s licence with air endorsement
  • Firefighter medical clearance
  • Pass and maintain Airport Firefighter Fitness Standard
  • Airport Firefighter Certification program
  • Transport Canada Transportation Security Clearance (3 months)
  • Restricted Radio Operator’s Licence (1 month)
  • Airside Vehicle Operator’s Permit (1 month).

Job Requirements :
Shift work, including working weekends and stat holidays, wearing a uniform provided by the department and completing an annual physical fitness appraisal.

Eligibility List : 12 months.
