Pacific Coastal Airlines is currently looking for a permanent full time Health and Safety, Security and Environment Officer. This position is based out of the South Terminal building at the Vancouver International Airport in Richmond.
Reporting to the Quality and Safety Manager this position provides direction, support and guidance to management and employees on all matters related to the Company’s Occupational Health & Safety, Security and Environment.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide subject matter expertise, guidance and training on matters pertaining to Occupational Health and Safety Legislation
• Report hazards, incidents and accidents identified under OSH, AOSH, SMS and QA Programs
• Assist in investigating incidents/accidents and making recommendations to preclude a recurrence
• Conduct hazard identification and risk management analysis
• Assist in the development and maintenance of department safe job procedures
• Conduct safety surveys
• Co-chair and manage workplace Health & Safety Committee meetings
• Administer SMS data base and provide output to monitor and analyze trends
• Maintain company WHMIS program
• Manage company Disability Management Program (WorkSafe BC, HOIR, Return to Work Program)
• Perform internal and external department audits – per Corporate Safety Schedule
• Train department team members in Occupational Safety and Health regulations
• Champion a company culture of workplace health and safety
• Other duties as assigned by the Quality and Safety Manager
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience
• A minimum of 2 years’ aviation industry experience
• 1-3 years of safety experience
• Post-secondary education in a related field, such as public/occupational health and safety is an asset
• Experience working with Canada Labour Code in regards to Occupational Health & Safety is an asset
• Understand the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) as they apply to Safety Management
• Experience completing Audits
• Awareness of safety-related trends, advances and improvements to determine the economic impact of any fiscal or political activity that could affect the Company

• Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn

• Competency with computer programs such as (Web, Excel, Word, Powerpoint. Prezi )
• Communicate effectively with both internal/external customers, authorities and agencies
• Able to understand the company policy and procedures detailed in the company OSH and SMS manuals and how they affect the company
