New Posting - Vancouver Airport Authority

The Vancouver Airport Authority has a full-time Junior Buyer term opportunity (to April 2017) in the Supply Management Department.  Reporting to the Manager, Supply Management, the successful candidate will be responsible for procuring low value goods & services and providing administrative support for the Supply Management Department.



Key responsibilities include:
  • Locating sources of supply for goods & services
  • Negotiating and placing orders for low dollar value goods and services
  • Placing purchase orders, as well as preparing tenders and requests for proposal packages as directed by Senior Buyers
  • Meeting with vendors to discuss MSS requirements
  • Expediting and following up on outstanding purchase orders
  • Resolving order discrepancies and where required, arranging for return of goods
  • Negotiating pricing/shipping and other relevant terms of order
  • Managing and updating vendor data and item information in Oracle and Maximo systems
  • Coordinating execution of legal documents
  • Drafting correspondence and maintaining files
  • Providing administrative support to the Director of Supply Management
Key qualifications include:
  • Three years of relevant purchasing experience in a corporate or commercial environment
  • Fundamental purchasing knowledge, including contract information, negotiation and contract law
  • Enrolment in, or completion of, a diploma and/or certificate program in supply chain management is an asset
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to organize, schedule tasks and handle deadlines
  • Strong multitasking skills
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel and Word); knowledge of Oracle and Maximo is an asset
