Manager, Deicing Training and Compliance
Greater Toronto Airports Authority  - Toronto, ON
Full-time, Permanent
Reporting to the Director, Deicing Operations, this position is responsible for overseeing the development, operational quality assurance and the delivery of personnel training directly related to Deicing Operations. This position will work closely with all internal and external stakeholders to determine requirements and develop programs to achieve delivery of the GTAA Ground Deicing Operations Manual (GDOM).

Job Description
  • Develop and manage a proactive training program in accordance with the GDOM, applicable air carrier requirements and government regulations
  • Manage relationships with key business stakeholders and cross departmental collaboration and teamwork
  • Conduct and/or oversee initial and recurrent training requirements for all employees on job requirements required to support the deicing operation
  • Participate and perform incident/accident investigations and contribute findings during SMS reviews
  • Participate in company Health and Safety meetings and cascade information to business unit
  • Establish performance metrics and evaluate training deliverables against objectives to ensure continuous improvement
  • Audit and evaluate deicing operations for compliance
  • Manage and maintain training files/records
  • Perform Quality Assurance during active Deicing Operations
  • Provide guidance and direction to Deicing Operations Technical Inspectors
  • Conduct and facilitate audits and represent GTAA during external third party audits
  • Manage and maintain an effective team consistent with core beliefs and values that are based on engagement, empowerment and passenger experiences
  • Develop and manage annual budget and business plan aligned to the Corporate Strategic Plan
  • Oversee the administration of the GTAA Learning Management System (LMS)

Job Requirements
Qualifications: 
  • Post-Secondary diploma or degree, with a preference for a specialization in training – or will possess equivalent combination of training, education and work experience
  • Aviation related experience is considered an asset
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in training development and implementation of programs related to aircraft deicing operations
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience direct or indirect in People Management
  • Experience in aircraft deicing operations at Toronto Pearson International Airport is considered an asset
  • Must have a valid Ontario G Driver's License
  • Must be able to obtain Airside Vehicle Operators Permit - D/A designation within sixty (60) days of appointment to the position

  • Must be able to design and develop training using a variety of methods, including e-learning
  • Must have the ability to compile, assess and analyze information and determine the required training solutions
  • Must possess excellent customer service, planning, conflict resolution, and oral and written communication skills
  • Must have exceptional computer (Microsoft Office – Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project, Adobe Captivate) and writing skills required to facilitate preparation of reports, procedures, training plans, directives, training records and other documents
