Director, Facilities Maintenance – Operations and Maintenance

Permanent Full-Time
Reporting to the Vice President, Operations and Maintenance, the Director, Facilities Maintenance oversees all aspects relating to the effective maintenance of the organization’s $3B capital assets, including buildings, HVAC, passenger bridges, water and sewer systems. He/she ensures that all systems are safe, reliable and redundant, and that the organization can operate effectively 24/7.

The Director serves as both a steward and change agent for the department’s approach to programs, policies and procedures, and brings proven expertise in establishing new standards for predictive, preventative, and corrective maintenance. The Director prepares and executes on business plans and strategies that move the department towards improved cost-effectiveness and efficiency through implementation of best practices and better collection and utilization of data and analytics. Furthermore, the Director oversees all people management for union and exempt staff, addressing human capital/training needs, and developing departmental succession plans.



As the ideal candidate, you are a senior maintenance professional with 8-10 years of experience managing maintenance planning within a large complex facility, institution, industrial/commercial plant or municipality or alternatively, experience in project managing the construction of a similar facility.

As a strategic, resourceful, innovative and analytical individual, you possess exceptional communication skills and the ability to manage numerous projects and influence a diverse operation without direct authority. Your experience will be complemented by a degree in a professional engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil or Industrial) and ideally, a P.Eng designation.
