The Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager of Facilities Maintenance and the Supervisor of Structural Maintenance, the Facilities Maintenance Generalist performs the architectural and structural planned preventative maintenance and repair program at the Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Air Terminal Building and various WAA and campus facilities.

Responsibilities include:
  • Planned maintenance and refinishing of various painted surfaces and unplanned repair of various building elements including trim materials and metalwork.
  • Various facilities maintenance repairs and periodic maintenance support as necessary including various sealant and firestopping applications and thermal insulation and vapour barrier repair.
  • Duties may require working alone or as part of a team.
Selection Criteria include:
  • Successful completion of secondary school or equivalent in a related technical or trade certification;
  • BOMI SMA/SMT, or similar building industry recognized facilities certification preferred;
  • 5 years demonstrated experience in large complex facilities related to building maintenance; painting, drywalling and interior finishing trades;
  • Valid MB Class 5 driver’s license ; with ability to obtain an AVOP D/A license within 6 months of hire;
  • Experience in using various hand and power tools and equipment in a safe and effective manner;
  • Must be able to demonstrate safe work practices, including ladder, scaffold and mechanized aerial
lift safety in indoor and outdoor working conditions; Must be comfortable working at heights and platforms of 30-50 feet;
  • Working knowledge of building components, materials and repair and finishing methods;
  • Experience working in public spaces and corporate offices in a safe and effective manner;
  • Customer service oriented and proactive with excellent problem solving abilities;
  • Working knowledge of a computerized facilities maintenance management system;
  • Ability to work with tight deadlines and shifting priorities while identifying and implementing practical solutions;
  • Posses strong organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated abilities to work independently as well as within a team environment;
  • Basic computer skills with Microsoft office products and excel spreadsheets;
  • Must be able to work rotating shifts supporting a 24/7/365 operation.
Condition of employment is the ability to obtain and maintain an Airport Restricted Area Identification Card.
