Zone Supervisor
Job Title: Zone Supervisor Location: Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) Reports To: Ramp Manager FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Hourly)
Background: Menzies Aviation is a global provider of passenger, ramp and cargo handling services operating at 150 stations in 32 countries. With the continued rapid growth and development of our Canadian operation an opportunity has arisen for an experienced Zone Supervisor to work with our Toronto based management team.
Summary: Responsible for the safe and efficient use of personnel and equipment. Provides direction, assistance and leadership to subordinates. Ensures the compliance of all company policies, procedures, customer expectations and government regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Safety – Ensure that ramp personnel adhere to established company policies and safety regulations and cooperate with the Safety, Security and Education team.
- Communication – Ensure that employees are briefed on daily operations prior to start of shift; provide AS scorecard feedback to all employees.
- Time & Attendance – Ensure that all leads and ramp agents clock in and out for assigned shift and lunch.
- Allocation of breaks – Monitor allocation of meal breaks to zone team by using a signup sheet or T&A system for backup documentation sheets.
- Staffing - Ensure that employees are properly staff on shift and that crews are at gate 10 minutes prior to flight arrival, FOD has been completed, GSE equipment is ready, and cargo and outbound bags are staged at the gate.
- Liaison with AS – Liaison with AS scorecard auditor.
- Communication with Dispatch and Shift Manager – Ensure that assigned working radio is on at all times for purposes of effective communicating.
- Teamwork – Must be able to support other zones as needed; backup support must be approved by Shift Manager/Assistant Shift Supervisor.
- Zone report – prepare zone report for Shift Manager/Shift Supervisor. Reports should include data on performance, safety, GSE equipment maintenance, and staffing issues.
- Project a professional image/conduct at all times.
- Ensure the safe and secure operations, in accordance with the highest possible standards of health, safety, security and all government statutory requirements.
- All other duties that may be assigned.
Required Skills:
- Minimum of 2 years ramp operation experience.
- Current valid Ontario G/G2 Drivers Licence, provide current drivers abstract & DA
- Computer skills.
- High School Diploma.
- Experience with staff scheduling, employee relations and customer service.
- Must be able to lift up to 70lbs when required
- Must successfully complete and pass Lead Academy.
