REPORTS TO: Director, Flight Operations




PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
To ensure the availability of qualified and ‘fit’ pilots for clients. In support to the Chief Pilots, ensure Skyservice’s pilots and aircrew are properly trained in accordance with Transport Canada regulations. To manage the delivery of key flight crew programs that support the organization to attract, retain, engage, and motivate a high performing flight crew.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Manage the performance of the Training Team including providing day to day direction, helping resolving issues and ensuring client expectations are met;
    Establish and monitor key performance metrics for pilot training and support, addressing performance gaps and anticipating potential issues;
    Leverage technology and processes improvement to increase efficiency, improve flight crew experiences and overall service delivery;
    Ensure compliance with all company Standard Operating Procedures.
    Build and monitor network of training vendors to ensure value-add; identify new opportunities and best practices;
    Work closely with team to ensure coordination/scheduling of training and Check rides for flight crew;
    Lead related audit preparation to achieve best results during internal or external annual audits (EJM, ARG/US, TC, etc.);
    Maintain the Training Control Manual (TCM);
    Create and deliver in-house training as required;
    Ensure qualifications/requirements of crew members meet regulatory requirements, standards and company policies;
    Develop approach to manage flight crew performance
    Special project as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

    Minimum of 5 years’ experience coordinating pilot training programs in a complex operation;
    Knowledge of technical training requirements for pilots as well as relevant Transport Canada regulations; and track record of developing technical training
    Strong communication (written and oral) and negotiation skills;
    Superior customer service, relationship building and influence skills;
    Collaborative and oriented towards continuous improvement;
    Strong communication (written and oral), analytical and problem solving skills;
    Ability to work in fast-paced, high pressure environment;
    Proficient with Microsoft Office tools - Word and Excel;
    Fluently bilingual (English and French – both spoken and written).

EDUCATION:

    Post-secondary education in aviation management or relative field experience required;
    Airline Transport Pilot certificate is an asset.
