| Sunwing Travel is Currently recruiting a Safety Coordinator OVERALL OBJECTIVE: The Safety Coordinator will provide support to Safety Department Staff members by performing coordinating activities related to Aviation Safety, Occupational Health and Safety, and Quality Management. RESPONSIBILITIES: The Safety Coordinator is responsible and accountable to the Director, Safety for the following: -Participating in the daily review of safety reports for the purpose of determining the scope of investigation, occurrence owner, and event classification; -Entering safety reports, risk assessments, and other safety data into the safety management database (AQD) -Processing e-Reports and creating occurrences (e.g. import e-Reports, acknowledge report submitters, open new safety assessments and investigations); -Maintaining the safety management database (AQD) by creating and maintaining user profiles, building forms for data capture and reporting purposes, establishing or amending workflows to support the SMS processes, updating data fields to satisfy data capture/analysis needs, updating records, reviewing records for quality control purposes; liaising with IT support for problem solving purposes, researching improvement options; - Maintaining a document retention (filing) system for all SMS related documents (e.g. records) not retained in the safety management database (AQD); - Coordinating the delivery of SMS specific training, this includes tracking training requirements and maintaining training records; - Organizing safety meetings (e.g. preparing and distributing agenda and meeting minutes); - Preparing and distributing reports to support the monitoring and analysis of trends in hazards, incidents and accidents; - Track the completion of the potable water sampling plan and provide regular status updates to the Department Managers; - Promoting safety on an ongoing and regular basis (e.g. uploading files to Sunwing Airlines Operations Website); - Additional tasks as assigned by the Director, Safety. SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: - Post-secondary education in a related field; - Prior experience in the aviation industry, preferably in one of the following functional areas: Flight Operations, Maintenance & Engineering, In-flight Services; Ground Handling considered an asset; - Demonstrated knowledge in the use of computer applications, such as MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Visio; - Demonstrated organizational, planning and administrative skills; - Effective communication skills (including report writing); - An understanding of the Canadian Aviation Regulations ENVIONMENT AND SCOPE: - Fast paced, deadline oriented work environment; - Able to work independently and share responsibilities within a team environment; - Volume varies seasonally; - Mon to Fri, 9am to 5pm.
