Description:
- Accountable for meeting base key performance indicators (SPOT, baggage, labour and costs) and performance for safety and security
- Accountable for forecasting labour budget and costs up to and including the next year
- Ensure each base is prepared for the following shift; resources and tools are in place to meet the needs of our people, guests and operation
- Review the completion of required training, read and sign and Red Alert communications to ensure adherence to company and departmental procedures following up with team members for completion
- Encourage and promote empowerment of the frontline to deliver on Guest Service Standards
- Using Daily Shift Notes, Operations Lead feedback and observations, conduct trending of CSA performance and deliver recognition and coaching conversations; including performance management
- Provide content to Operations Lead for daily briefings
- Hold regular briefings with the Operations Lead to maintain open communication and understanding of the operational successes and challenges
- Complete audit assessments and required CAPs (GH, Grooming, Safety, Base audits)
- Complete and follow up on assigned AQDs/IHRs, Accident/Incident Investigations and CAPs
- Direct Operations Leads with contact lists for local teams in the event of an IROP
- Provide direction to the Administrator regarding scheduling of onboarding / local training, in consultation with the Training Liaison and Operations Lead
- Responsible for Community Investment, CARE and corporate initiatives locally – act as the communication liaison between these groups and Airports
- Implement and support Program Delivery programs (i.e. uniforms, onboarding, etc.) and initiatives in Airports
- Monitor and advise on team compliance to WestJet and Transport Canada safety management standards; including regulated training
- Work collaboratively and pro-actively with the WEA representatives at the base to respond to employee concerns
- Responsible for team recruitment and selection process
- Ensure team qualifications support operational requirements and forecast training requirements to meet long term operational needs
- Accountable for the Occupational Safety and Health / Health and Wellness program management
- Responsible for the ability management and return to work program
- Complete WCB forms, when required
- Complete the Accident/Incident Checklist, when required
- Conduct one on one meetings with team members
- Responsible for adhering to all people processes and practices
- Representing WestJet/WestJet Encore at local AOC meetings and participate in ACC meetings
- Manage the local Ground Handling partner contract and relationship
- Accountable to complete and maintain the local Station Deice Management Plan
- Responsible for the development and management of base Emergency Response program and for emergency procedures including evacuation plans and incident preparedness
- Prepare and deliver annual performance reviews for direct reports
- Direct strategic plans within the Airport community and facility that will enhance service and improve operations
- Ensure the airport flight operation management processes (i.e. de-icing, snow removal) meet WestJet day of and long term operational requirements
- Maintain proficiency of station operations (check in, gates, baggage, ground ops, etc.) through participation and observations
- Create and execute peak readiness plans
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 - 5 years airport operations experience
- Minimum 1-2 years proven leadership and coaching experience with a demonstrated ability to mentor and motivate
- General knowledge of Human Resource practices i.e.: Ability Management and Performance Management
- Effective time management skills with the ability to prioritize quickly and efficiently
- Excellent ability to handle changing priorities and perform steadily under pressure
- Excellent communication skills – both written and oral; including facilitation skills
- Proven ability to provide high level of customer service to internal and external guests
- Proven track record in leading business operations with internal and external parties; including creating and managing Key Performance Indicator metrics
- Proven history of effecting change through influence
- Intermediate skills in MS Office applications PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Outlook
- Proven track record in safety awareness
- Proven track record of maintaining confidentiality and operating with a high level of business ethics
- Ability to work a flexible schedule as operationally required and travel for business meetings and training
- Ability to perform all Airport functions in all applications is a strong asset
- Ground Operations (and Ground Icing) knowledge or experience is an asset
- Bilingual (English and French) is an asset
- Experience managing a contract is an asset
- Ability to create and maintain an employee schedule following Canada Labour Code and WestJet labour budget practices is an asset
- Involvement in community programs or volunteering is an asset
- Exceptional personal OTP and performance - Positive role model, outwardly demonstrates WestJet values
- Understanding of Sabre reservation system is an asset
