Cargojet is currently recruiting a Ground Handler

Full time hours (40 hours per week)

Part time hours (minimum 25 hours per week)

Reports To:  Lead Hand/Operations Supervisor

Location: YVR

Shift Days/Hours:  Days, Evenings, Weekends, Stat Holidays

Primary Objective of the Position:Safe and timely processing of Cargo and aircraft loading/offloading within prescribed parameters. Cargojet offers competitive wages, and benefits including Health and Dental and matched RRSP based on matched contributions. Paid training and free uniforms.

Essential Position Functions:

·   Repeated and continuous lifting of packages up to 60lbs

·   Sort packages based on customer, airport of destination, and other parameters

·   Communicate piece counts, and package information to Lead Hands, and Supervisors

·   Handle customer packages, and freight with due care and attention

·   Ensure all safety and security protocols are adhered to

·   Perform general housekeeping duties as required

·   Perform tasks associated with Dangerous Goods Handling/Acceptance

·   Meet time sensitive deadlines for freight build-up/breakdown as part of a team dynamic

·   Learn and apply specific training modules required for position (WHMIS, SMS, Dangerous Goods, Hazard Prevention, etc…)

·   Perform other duties as required

Minimum Qualifications:

• Flexible to work shift work, weekends and stat holidays
• Be willing to be subject to a background check; clearance is required

• High School Graduate or equivalent experience
• Valid Class 5 Drivers Licence or equivalent
• Ability to obtain a RAIC pass (Transport Canada Security Clearance)
• Ability to lift up to 60lbs repeatedly
• Ability to work within a “team first” environment, and complete common goals within time sensitive deadlines
• Excellent punctuality, and attendance habits
• Ability to learn quickly, and adapt to fast changing customer requirements
• Willingness to take direction with a keen interest in further development within the Vancouver operation
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
