GardaWorld is the largest provider of aviation services for the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA), offering security screening services in 28 airports across Canada.

Our officers are tasked with protecting air travelers by screening them and their belongings, while exhibiting the highest degree of vigilance in challenging circumstances. Our officers undergo rigorous specialized training up to 180 hours, both in class and on-the-job in order to acquire CATSA Screening Officer certification.

We are currently recruiting for a Checkpoint Manager, Training on a Full Time Permanent basis.

Position Description

Manages the Screening Officer training requirements for the division and coordinates training activity so changes to protocol/standards are implemented in a timely manner.

Major Accountabilities / Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Manages the Screening Officer (SO) training requirements for the division through effective deployment of a Training Specialist (TS) team.
  • Coordinates training activity so changes to protocol/standards are implemented in a timely manner.
  • Executes training and follow-up requirements via thorough regular lists of training priorities in a timely and effective manner
  • Leads requirements for:
  • Learning Performance Index(LPI) for existing, new and recurrent plans
  • NTCP of existing, new and recurrent plans
  • Designs and executes Return to Work Programs for Screening Officers to ensure competency and compliance
  • Provides information to GM to assist in long-term planning
  • Responsible for delivering and/or managing resources for new SO orientation, e-modules, SOF and OJT
  • Ensures that PIP/ PERs identified by our client are completed by TS within compliance
  • Maintains and updates database as per the National Training & Certification Program (NTCP)
  • Monitors for consistent application of the GardaWorld Employee regulations
  • Provides access to and control of all training records.
  • Manages scheduling of all employee training requirements and training certification maintenance.
  • Provides feedback to appropriate parties regarding training outcomes.
  • Analyzes trends in training outcomes in collaboration with Manager, Program Delivery
  • Provides regular updates on Training & Development Key Performance Indicators and programs as required
  • Participates in TS and Screening Officer Interviews
  • Serves as Screening Officer Subject Matter Expert for Human Resources in ongoing improvement of screening, testing, and interviewing content.
Background (Education/Licenses/Work Experience):
  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field (e.g. business/commerce, business management, etc.) OR equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3 - 5 years’ experience in a related field
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Office Suite specifically in Excel and Access
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in managing teams

  • Successful completion of management courses will be required including but not limited to SOF (including Basics and lab) course and SCTR (Screening Contractor Training Representative) and CST (CATSA Supervisor Training)
