BCIT Student Association - Career Services

As you may already know, The BCIT Student Association Career Services department offers a free online job board where employers can post both paid and volunteer positions. In an effort to better serve both students and alumni, the BCITSA Career Services is piloting a new strategy to help employers market job openings to students as well as increase the visibility of their opportunities across the wider BCIT student and alumni population.

Traditionally, our practice has been to email a list of current job openings to targeted groups of students and alumni. Moving forward, we will instead be posting Featured Jobs on our BCITSA website. Our website will house Featured Jobs in a tab on the top menu. In addition to increased promotion via our website, these listings will also be linked to our bi-weekly student and alumni newsletter, increasing exposure to your employment opportunities.

This new approach will increase the visibility of your job postings and will encourage students and alumni to apply to jobs.

We can feature up to 5 postings per month per school and currently, Featured Job postings are free! We encourage you to continue to post your jobs for free using Career Track, as well as explore this new opportunity for marketing your current employment openings.

If you would like to have your job posted on our website along with your company logo, contact your Career Specialist or call us at 604.451.7087.

Job Posting Tips:

  • List perks and benefits
  • Sell your brand and company values
  • List experience as entry ‘entry level’ rather than requiring 1 - 2  years of experience
  • Mention the compensation structure including bonuses, commission and specific rates if possible
  • Indicate the hours of work
We recommend that you take the opportunity to market your brand on campus and engage in some of our other services:
  • Industry Days Career Fairs
  • Information Sessions
  • Event Sponsorship
  • Networking Events
  • Recruitment Table
  • Interview Scheduling
  • Interview Room Bookings
Share your success with us and let us know if you have hired a BCIT student. We appreciate all of your feedback!

Regards,
Tara Mollett, MA
Student And Career Services Manager
