Reporting to the Vice President, Human Resources, you will be a part of the HR Leadership team and responsible for overseeing workplace health and safety for the organization.
The primary focus of this role is to:
- Oversee the Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) program which includes: managing the annual Certificate of Recognition audit and identifying opportunities for improvement; managing the Joint Workplace Health and Safety Committee; conducting incident investigations and incident / injury trend analysis
- Provide leadership and advice to management and employees in developing, reinforcing and promoting proactive initiatives to enhance and build the occupational health and safety component of our corporate culture
- Conduct ergonomic assessments for employees as requested and provide recommendations for healthy work sites
- Conduct safety orientations for new hires
- Oversee and develop mandatory safety training that meets regulatory compliance requirements
- Develop an annual safety communications plan that helps to promote a safety culture at YYC
- Oversee Workers Compensation Board claims and disability management claims. Liaise with our occupational testing consultants/disability case management consultants to ensure proper support and claims management is occurring
- Oversee, develop and manage policies and processes related employee health and safety to ensure regulatory compliance, such as: alcohol and drug policy, and safety sensitive positions/fitness for work evaluations
- Oversee and continue to enhance the company’s health and wellness program including the delivery of annual initiatives to support the program
- Participate in stakeholder meetings as required, providing safety subject matter expertise
- Support the development of business cases to support the organization’s decision processes, including consideration of alternative approaches, analysis of key risks, and development of mitigations where possible
- Provide leadership, guidance, coaching, and direction to the Financial Planning team. Establish annual performance goals with input from staff. Ensure that qualified and competent individuals are recruited, retained, and developed to their fullest potential
- Oversee the administration of the Canadian Airport Information Sharing program

What you will bring:
- Post-secondary education in safety or similar field: degree, diploma or certificate in occupational health and safety, or similar and/or professional equivalent experience
- Experience in occupational health and safety (e.g. ergonomics; industrial hygiene; job safety analysis; hazard identification/control; workplace inspections; accident investigations)
- Five or more years’ experience managing a workplace health safety program and/or experience with workplace legislative compliance under federal or provincial codes
- CRSP or similar designation in workplace health and safety
- Strong written and presentation skills with the ability to write, develop and present training documentation, programs, policies and incident reports
- Ability to effectively build relationships and trust with multiple stakeholders through engagement and leadership
- Ability to proactively resolve problems and manage conflict / negotiate positively
- Role model a high level of professionalism, integrity and ethics
- Ability to multi-task and problem solve while maintaining flexibility in a fast-paced environment
- High level of initiative and the ability to work under minimal supervision or direction
- Must be able to meet the requirements of a safety-sensitive position
- Must have and maintain a valid Class 5 drivers abstract and be able to obtain an Airside Vehicle Operator’s Permit (AVOP)
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC)
