  • Flair Airlines is a Canadian airline headquartered in Kelowna, BC with bases in BC, Alberta, Manitoba, and Ontario. Our company operates scheduled domestic passenger services and charters in Canada, USA, and internationally. 

  • We are currently seeking a full-time, permanent Crew Scheduler to join our team in Kelowna, BC. 
Position Overview:
Reporting to the Operations Coordination Centre (OCC) Manager, the Crew Scheduler is responsible coordinating crews in an effort to keep operations fully staffed and flights on time. The Crew Scheduler must take into account a variety of factors when making a schedule and must be able to make decisions under stressful conditions.

Working Conditions: 
The Crew Scheduler will be required to work a variable schedule including holidays, weekends, and afternoon and night shifts as the needs of service dictate.  The work environment is fast-paced, deadline driven, and ever changing. Overtime may be required. Frequent sitting, typing, filing, phone work and use of standard office equipment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Developing and maintaining monthly crew member schedules within prescribed guidelines;
  • Awarding all scheduled days off (SDO’s) and guaranteed days off (GDO’s) in accordance with crew member’s bid preference, or assign as necessary in coordination with the Chief Pilot and Flight Attendant Manager;
  • Awarding all vacation in accordance with crew member’s bid preference, or assign as necessary in coordination with the Chief Pilot and Flight Attendant Manager;
  • Developing, scheduling and maintaining, in coordination with the Training and Standards Manager and Flight Attendant Manager, all required ground, simulator and flight training;
  • In coordination with the Training and Standards Manager, booking all required pilot initial and recurrent simulator training with the approved and designated training provider;
  • Assigning reserve crew members within prescribed guidelines;
  • Scheduling flight crews in accordance with Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs), Company Operations Manual (COM), and Fatigue Risk Management System (FRMS) regulations, policies and procedures;
  • Checking daily crew assignments and rescheduling crews to provide coverage, as needed;
  • Ensuring all communications to crew members and customers are clear, concise and completed in a professional and timely manner;
  • Coordinating with suppliers, flight operations management, and crew members in times of Irregular Operations (IROPS) to resolve problems;
  • Ensuring that flight crew duty hours and days worked are maintained within legal limits as determined by the CARs regulations and FRMS;
  • Maintaining crew check-in records and flight project/actual hours;
  • Ensuring the timely and efficient coverage of all Flair flights in accordance with the CARs, contractual provisions and scheduling policies & practices;
  • Maintaining records for sick calls, personal absences, late and no shows for crew members;
  • Utilizing a variety of Company software programs efficiently and correctly to perform assignments, update and log changes, and conduct research; and
  • Such other duties as assigned by the Company.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
  • High school or GED equivalent;
  • Ability to work irregular hours or shift work that may include evenings, weekends and holidays, with a schedule that varies;
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook) is essential;
  • Must be able to read, understand and apply CARs regulations, related legislation, and company policies and procedures;
  • Ability to maintain composure under pressure;
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a high stress, deadline driven, ever-changing work environment while prioritizing tasks and assignments;
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and maintain organized workflow;
  • Strong communications skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders;
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills;
  • Make effective decisions regarding scheduling and customer requirements for charters and other flights;
  • Previous Airline Operations Centre or Airport Operations experience is an asset;
  • Knowledge of the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CAR’s) as they apply to 705 operations is an asset;
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada without restriction; and
  • Clear Canadian criminal record check and satisfactory employment references.
