OUR TERMINAL OPERATIONS CULTURE
Our Terminal Operations team is passionate about airport operations and ensuring that our terminal operates efficiently and effectively. The Terminal Operations Specialists are the eyes and ears inside the Terminal for the Integrated Operations Centre (IOC), responding to emergencies, gathering information, interviewing, preparing reports and monitoring and enforcing airport operations on a 24/7 - 365 basis. Our Terminal Operations Specialists are high performers who make substantive change every day.
WHAT YOU WILL DOReporting to GM, Terminal Operations, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe, secure and efficient operating environment for the airport community, passengers and visiting public at Canada’s fourth busiest airport.
Your primary responsibilities include:
- Respond to safety, security and emergency incidents, assume Incident Command (IC), provide initial first-aid, situational assessment, establish control of scene, initiate emergency environmental protection, information gathering, emergency escort(s) and perform supporting roles to emergency responders
- Monitor, educate and conduct enforcement of the Airport Security Program
o Ensure compliance of, respond to and mitigate breeches of security and non-compliance of the Airport Security Program o Inspect physical security equipment/systems to ensure conformance o Monitor the security and safety of the Primary Security Line
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders regarding matters related to Airport Operations including but not limited to: CATSA, CBSA, USCBP and Transport Canada to ensure stakeholder compliance with Regulations, Airport Procedures and other policies
- Monitor terminal construction programs ensuring compliance with Security and Operational Plans
- Complete all Incident Reports as related to any of the above accountabilities
- Monitor daily operations and report findings or issues to the IOC
WHAT YOU BRING
- Knowledge of airport operations and regulations
- Meet requirements of a safety-sensitive position
- Ability to obtain and maintain the following:
o Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC) o Restricted Radio Operators Certificate
- Ability to work a rotating shift schedule in a 24/7 operation including days, afternoons, midnights, weekends and holidays
- Strong computer skills, displaying ease in working with a variety of software applications and Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as high degree of attention to detail
- Ability to interpret legislation, conduct inspections, audits and investigations and assess findings to report deficiencies
- Skilled at preparing detailed written reports
- Capable of performing in situations that are occasionally ambiguous and to make decisions expeditiously
- Ability to resolve problems and to provide advice and direction through strong conflict resolution skills
- Ability to compile, assess and analyze information and determine the required action
- Ability to work effectively as a team and independently with minimal supervision
WHAT ELSE?
- Posses and maintain a valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License or equivalent, subject to a clean driver’s abstract
- Post-secondary education in airport operations is considered an asset
- Existing knowledge of airport, aviation and transportation functions is an asset
- Ability to handle stress and deal with crisis situations in a calm manner and be able to assist in managing others in a stressful environment
